Jody Gerut?
Is there something still wrong with Jody Gerut?

It seems to me that a platoon of C. Wilson and Jody Gerut would be pretty decent.  Wilson kills lefties and Gerut is at the very least adequate against righties.  He's got a .288 career average against them.

They wouldn't set the world on fire, but they're better than paying Eric Byrnes...

Jody Gerut...
...has, I'm fairly certain, a prosthetic leg.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.  Especially on the Pirates.  Arrrrrr.

I am a big fan of this happening.  So long as Craig doesn't disappear for weeks at a time, and so long as Gerut's prosthesis stays attached, I think they could be the Eisenreich/Incaviglia of their time.  If everybody around them goes large like everybody around Eisie/Inky went large in 1993, we could be in the World Series.

(Seriously, has any team EVER had everybody max out like the 1993 Phillies?  I've posted in the past, at least over at HW, about how the Pirates are one of those teams that has to have all possible outcomes occur at near 100% of their positive result capabilities, and how good teams are OK if one guy, so long as it isn't a Pujols type, takes a nap for 6 weeks.  The 1993 Phillies actually maxed everyone out.  That does not happen much.)
