I have this sinking feeling that the Pirates RF will be...

Trot Nixon.  I know it sucks doesn't it?  I've already lined up cliches for the front office. "Well, Trot brings a World Series ring to the club and it is something the young guys can look at and they can ask Trot questions to show them what it takes for the Pirates to be a winning organization."  or "Trot is someone we targeted early on in free agency and we feel like he brings a left-handed bat that is capable of 20-30 homeruns and plays a position we had a definite need at so we feel like it is good fit."

I'm sure Trot is a great guy but, I really hope I am wrong about him coming here.  Again this is just my feeling I haven't really read anything to support my claim.

good guess
I was going to guess David Dellucci, which I wouldn't mind if it's a short-term deal and he gets a third of what Burnitz got -- and the extra money was put into getting a pitcher, a center fielder who can field and hit or scouting and development. I know I'm asking too much.

No good...
His career OPS is .834, but he slugged less than .400 last year and he'll be 33 shortly after the season starts.  He also made $7.5M in '04 and '05.

Just re-sign Burnitz again
After all, if Littlefield could creat a computer model of everything he's looking for in a free agent Right Fielder, it would look like Jeromy Burnitz.  He's the perfect age, was washed up five years ago, plays the position, and after last season's debacle, could be had for a dime (even though Littlefield would see fit to give him $6 million).  Why look around for something that's right under your nose?
(God, I hope everyone knows this was a joke)
