Holy %#$#%. That is just insane. I'm sure I don't even need to spell out for you the reasons why this is insane, but I will.
- Matthews has basically had one above-average season in his career. ONE. Last year.
- He's already 32. This deal carries him through his age 36 season.
- Dave Littlefield sold Matthews in 2001. I have never seen anyone seriously try to claim this was a bad move. Matthews has since been waived by two other teams, most recently in 2004, and traded for John Bale.
