Around SBN: The Ten Worst Swings Of The 2011 Season

Brewers Sign Jeff Suppan

...To a four-year, $42 million deal with an option for 2011 and a $2 million buyout. The Bucs dodged a bullet here. I think this is too much to pay for Suppan, but I also think that he's worth more for the Brewers than for the Bucs. The Brewers at least have a decent defense and a decent shot at contending in the near future.

Bucdaddy says the Win Meter stays at 67.

To recap:
The meter didn't move when Burnitz and Randa got banished to retirement because in 2006 these two mediocre or worse players gave us pretty much exactly what we expected.

It went up two wins with the signing of Herrera, because by July 1 he could give us a decent option for replacing whoever our worst starter is at the time.

It went down one with the signing of a player who might have personally fought our boys at Guadalcanal.

It went down another with the Cubs achieving the amazing feat of outspending us 100-to-1 this offseason.

It stays right at 67 with the pointless signing of Einar Diaz, and Suppan didn't leave the division.

Merry Christmas. Happy New Year.

67 in '07.
