Wasted Money?

I know it's early, but I just want to express my deep gratitude to the FO for bringing in Joe Randa, Jeromy Burnitz and Sean Casey to play over worthless stiffs like Freddy Sanchez and Craig Wilson.  And keeping Nate McLouth on the bench has absolutely been the right decision.  And Jim Coburn's already worth every penny.

Way to go, Littlebrain.  Way to go.

Amen to Wasted Money
The jury is still out on Burnitz.  He was brought in to hit home runs and drive in runs, and it seems like he is doing that in the early going, though not with as much frequency as I would like to see for the money.
Randa and Casey are different stories all together.
If/when Casey comes back from the back injury (did anyone see that?  It looked like terrible acting in really bad amateur theatre), he'll probably hit around .300, as he did in his time in Cinn.  But he's only going to be good for 10-15 HRs, is an average to below-average fielder, and is slow as Moses.
I loved "The Joker" in his first stint with the Bucs--NINE FREAKING YEARS AGO.  But he's 36 now and they only signed him to a one-year contract, which shows they have no interest in, or committment to, him.  He's also stinking up the joint with the bat.
Seems to me that all the Pirates are doing with Casey is wasting 30 homers they could have with Craig Wilson in the lineup every day; and wasting a year of development for Freddy Sanchez.
