Another loss caused by Tracy

Again tonight, Tracy allowed another starting pitcher the chance to let the game get away after a galiant effort to give the Bucs a chance to win.  Am I the only one that thinks Tracy knows nothing about pitchers.  How many Pirate pitchers have pitched past 6 innings lately?  Not very many.  With the score 3-0 after 6, why not shake Maholm's hand and depend on your bullpen to hold the lead.  This has happened too many times this year, I attribute at least 10-15 losses to Tracy in this fashion.  Maybe it doesn't matter, but I think it does (36-42 (10-losses) or 41-37 (15-losses)sounds better than 26-52 and don't get me started on the 1-run games that he has lost because he has no clue what reliever to bring in.

Well
As much as I hate to do it, I'll stand up for Tracy a tiny bit. If this team is really building toward the future, they need to find out what the young players and pitchers can do. And that includes pitching in tight spots.

That said, when a guy allows three consecutive single and has been allowing almost two baserunners an inning during the season, you may not want to keep him out there - odds are people will get on base.

However, who here is confident that the bullpen would not have allowed those runs to score?

Yeah.
It's kind of a no-win situation.

Four hits in the inning...
on 10 pitches.  The 2nd and 3rd singles were on first-pitches.  There wasn't a whole lot of time to say, uh-oh, he's lost it.  And the one that cleared the bases?  Paulino and Maholm were not blowing smoke -- that pitch was out of the zone.  You have to credit the batter on that one.  Tracy didn't do anything wrong, this time.
