I liked that little article about the Pirates' potential to be like this year's Tigers. Now it wasn't so much the fact that we were comparing Detroit and Pittsburgh. I compare them a lot myself.
I compare Jim to Jim and note that the one managing up in Detroit knows what he's doing and the one in Pittsburgh doesn't even care what he's doing. We got the wrong Jim folks.
Clearly, as mentioned in a previous comment, the Dodgers are doing fine without Jim Tracy and us Pirates fans actually wish we had Lloyd McClendon back. Just a little bit.
So if in face the Pirates really could go from first to last I have been pondering who they would have to sign to accomplish this feat. The Tigers have Pudge Rodriguez and a pitching staff to be reckoned with. That's just for starters.
The Pirates have Freddy Sanchez and Jason Bay. Freddy doesn't get enough credit (Tracy didn't let him start regularly until he HAD to) and Bay, in my opinion, is overrated. He's a good player, but he has faults.
So what do you think? Cast your ballot...
