Mercifully, FOX Sports decided not to televise this one. I forgot that the worst part of that awful Craig Wilson swap is that now we've got to watch Chacon in our rotation. Please, Rangers - we'll give you Chacon and we'll give you Jesse Chavez back. Just let us have Kip Wells. I was going to do a writeup about Chacon's stuff, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Here's a scouting report. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Why is it that I get the funny feeling that Shawn Chacon is on this club as a Tracy/Colborn project? Do they envision him as their next Greg Gagne?

Announcer Misstatement?

I know I heard Greg Brown say last night that Chacon's ERA was 6.58. I knew that not to be true at the time and I am reminded of its, well, call it "inaccuracy" for now, because Greg isn't nearly as bad a shill as Lanny is. But still. Is this Front Office Bamboozlement, or is there some rational relationship between the phrases "Shawn Chacon," "earned run average" and "6.58"? Because Lord knows if I was running a baseball franchise that had just willfully pissed away one of its better hitters in return for an extra from "Night of the Living Dead," I'd want to throw some lipstick on that pig.

But TBS had it, and I subjected myself to parts of it. Apparently he didn't do too poorly, but I didn't take any chances and chose today to do my laundry and ironing.
