Around SBN: Will Rhymes 'Fine' After Being Hit By Pitch And Fainting

Williamsport No-Hits Batavia

Via WTM, the Pirates' short-season affiliate in Williamsport no-hit Batavia yesterday. The pitchers were Henry Cabrera and Olivo Astacio. Cabrera is older than Anibal Sanchez and Astacio is only a few months younger, but this is still pretty cool.

First off
Congratulations to the players involved.

However, what is the over under before Pirates management uses this as proof about rededicating themselves to Latin American scouting? I don't think that Cabrera or Astacio can be considered worthwhile prospects, but something as trivial as that has never stopped the Pirates before.

Not really related but....
People here probably know this already, but I just read that if teams made the playoffs based purely on their second half record, this year's NL Central would be won by... the Pittsburgh Pirates.

No, seriously.

Playoff Spot     Team     W     L     Pct
NL West     Los Angeles Dodgers     28     23     .549
NL Central     Pittsburgh Pirates     26     24     .520
NL East     New York Mets     32     16     .666
Wild Card     Florida Marlins     32     21     .604

That's kind of a mess, but I think you get the picture.

What's funnier? That the Pirates played so badly the first half that they're still in last, or that the NL Central has played so shitty in the second half a .520 record wins it?

For some reason . . .
. . . I keep thinking these headlines say they no-hit Bavaria.

Oh yeah
Cabrera and Astacio treated 'em like it was 1327 all over again
