The Pirates have signed righty reliever Kevin Gryboski to a minor-league deal. How the Braves managed to wrangle three and a half good years out of Gryboski is beyond me - he was old by the time he reached the big leagues, he had a thoroughly unimpressive minor league resume, and he never could strike out major league batters. He's not even very good if used as Class AAA filler - he wasn't especially impressive at New Orleans last year and was downright dismal in the majors with the Nationals. Hopefully, the closest he'll get to Pittsburgh this year will be at away games in Columbus.
