brandon inge

Brandon Inge wants out of Detroit with teh arrival of miguel cabrera and a Detroit newspaper said the pirates were interested but wary about the contract issue.  I'm not too sure if Inge is a big step over Jose Bautista about same average but Inge has more power.  It didn't say anything about who would be sent over in return.  But what is everyones take on Inge?

Inge
Brandon Inge circa 2004 I would be interested in.  His OPS has declined in each of the last 3 seasons, so I'm not crazy about him.  Truthfully, I think Jose Bautista is better right now than Brandon Inge at the plate, and if the Rule V hadn't taken a full season of Development away from Bautista we might not even be thinking of finding a new third baseman.

Decent starter.
He's a great glove man, and that gives him more value than his bat (where the OBP is an issue, due to his low BA).

I'd be willing to add him, but it depends on the price. We aren't at the point right now where we can afford to focus too many resources on small improvements to the ML roster. It needs to be about building for the future.

if the price is right...
why not? He's a star in the field and despite the poor numbers on offense he would still improve our lineup. Unfortunately he has a large contract which the Tigers are unwilling to eat if he is traded.

Bautista?
On the bench as a super-sub.  I don't know if he would get 250 ab's on a true contender.  How about we trade him.  Will his value ever be higher?  Does the "sell high" principal apply to him?  He is what he is.  If he were to peak in the next 2 years, it doesn't really matter.  I say move him now and go out and sign Macowiak to equal him for this year.  I struggle to say that Jose is another victim of "over hype" by the prior management.  I really don't think he will ever develop into a corner spot worthy dude on contending team.
