Around SBN: Two Minutes Of Thunder Basketball Wins The Game

Saturday's Action

Sean Burnett was sent down yesterday after having an incredibly good spring, and it turns out he wasn't real happy about it.

"I'm furious, frustrated," Burnett said. "I threw the [stuffing] out of the ball and I thought maybe I had a chance, but it's a numbers thing right now."
Burnett tossed 11 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and no earned runs. The Bucs also sent down Shane Youman and Kevin Gryboski.

In case you missed it, the Bucs topped the Twinkies today, 13-7. Ian Snell got roughed up a little bit, allowing 4 earned runs in 5 innings of work, but still struck out 6. Brad Eldred, continuing his push to make the team out of camp was 3 for 4 with his 6th homerun of the spring, 3 batted in and a walk. Adam LaRoche also hit a homer in the game, his second of the spring.

Tomorrow the Bucs will try and stick it to the D-Rays at 1:05.

162 game season:
If Burnett continues to show the command he had in camp, as opposed to last season coming off surgery, he`ll get his chances.
I don`t blame him, though.
Gorzelanny needs to show something today.

Burnett's control
He walked 7 guys in 11.3 innings this spring.  He doesn't strike people out.  He was known for his excellent control.  That has to improve, and I like most Bucco fans hope that it does.  Would be a nice problem to have.

Great Pirate pitching coach
Seems to me, last year Ian Snell complained about the great pitching advice he was getting from all the coaches.  Until he finally said, get off my back and just let me pitch, he then became his old self again.  Looks like too much tinkering around to me or too many head games from the expert Pirate coaches.  Just let Gorzo pitch the way he know how and how he did in the minors.
