TRADE TALKS

It's never to early to talk about trades, is it? I suggest the Pirates package Xavier Nady and Paul Maholm for a lefthanded contact hitter with extra-base power. The Pirates have been embarrassed by a slew of mediocre/washed-up/relief righthanded pitchers. It's time for Littlefield to cash in some of his pitching chips and bolster the offense.

Panic move
This would be a panic move and is not really necessary.  LaRoche will start hitting soon enough -- last year, LaRoche his .200 in April and in 2005, he hit .206, so his slow start this season cannot be unexpected or cause to make such a trade.

LaRoche isn't going anywhere ...
though I wanted Casey Kotchman before any deal was made. I'm suggesting the team needs more than one lefthanded power threat.

Who are you going to get
For a mediocre corner outfielder and the dullest "gem" in our rotation? Matt Stairs?

Matt Stairs at negative thinkers
Now with that kind of attitude you're not going to get very far, bucco. It's like someone told you your favorite team has lost for 14 straight seasons or something.

how about sean casey again
he fits your description, and teams tend to take soft tossing leftys for him

matskralc wasn't right with Stairs but he was
right with the Blue Jays. They are in desperate need of pitching. Package Maholm with Nady for Adam Lind. Perfect.

Opinions
What happened to voicing opinions in a respectful manner? I know blogs have more leeway than other mediums but sometimes things get out of hand around here. You (being the community) win. I'm done posting.

Jim...
Don't stop posting.  I disagreed with your opinion a couple of times last year (and may have been too sarcastic in my comments as well) and I know 1st hand that a lot of new poster get frustrated with negativity on this site.  I've come to realize that there are two types of Pirate fans: the optimist and the realists.  I start out an optimist at the beginning every year too.  This year I prevented myself from getting overly optimistic.  The Bucs made a good deal for Laroche so it was easy to get sucked in but I tried to keep myself in a third category, realistic but hopeful.  I'm hoping this is  the year it all comes together but I'm realistic enough to know that even .500 is a tough goal. But man am I hoping.  Anyway, the point is we're all Pirates fans and given the years of losing and the fact that we remain Pirate fans is worth something.  So keep on posting because I like to hear everyone's opinion whether I agree or not.  Long live the Bucs and their 25 Million operating profit!!
