The Pirates have activated Humberto Cota and sent Brad Eldred to Indianapolis.

Normally, this is exactly the sort of move I hate, since I don't understand the point of having Cota on the team at all right now. But Eldred has looked so clueless this year, so maybe what he needs is to play every day for a while so that he'll be crisp in case of an injury at the big league level. I don't really think freshness is a problem - I think the problem is that Eldred honestly just can't hit big-league hitting - but maybe I'm wrong, and it's worth a shot. Either way, the idea that Eldred would be a power bat off the bench just wasn't working out.
