Mike Gonzalez to have TJ surgery

Via Rotoworld, Mike Gonzalez is out for the season.

Well, it certainly looks like the Bucs got the better end of this deal, even if Adam LaRoche doesn't turn out to be terribly productive.

Suck.
Here's hoping the rehab goes well for him.

Even Better
What makes this deal look even sweeter is that Romak's stock is way up and Lillibridge's stock is way down.  PECOTA flopped on that one.

Late to the Party
Where did PECOTA have Lillibridge before the trade?  It seems like it was post-trade that he became the Second Coming.  A bit of reflexive "DL's a moron" sentiment, perhaps, not unlike what Dave Pinto has been posting over the last few days.  They're generally right, but not in this specific instance.

PECOTA
It had him as the second best SS prospect in the minors, or second best prospect overall, or something crazy like that.  I thought he was a good prospect, but PECOTA was off the wall on that one.

Not sure what DL would have had to do with it, unless they've programmed in some kind of modifier that makes everybody DL gets rid of improve by 500% and everybody he acquires fall off a cliff.  That might not be too far off, considering guys like LaRoche and Wigginton.  Wouldn't work with Kip Wells, though, unless he faced the Pirates 28 times this year.

PECOTA
PECOTA sometimes overrates guys of Lillibridge's type; it seems like it might've done the same thing with Pedroia.

I still think he'll be a pretty good player.

Calendar
In case you haven't noticed, it is the month of May. You think maybe it would be wise to wait until at least the end of the year to try and evaluate Romak and Lillibridge?

too bad
i always enjoyed watching him pitch, even if it was for the hated braves.

his mechanics always looked like they'd lead him to this.  him and k-rod always struck me as being one outing away from a visit to dr. james andrews.

anyway, good luck with the rehab gonzo.
