First inning
Now it might be easy to complain about the wasted opportunity. But with those two half-innings, more often than not you'll end up trailing.

Now for Feuerbach's sake, I swore not to follow a team with RaJai Davis leading off.

Nady
What now do we do that Nady appeared to tweak his hamstring rounding third?

Bench
Hope we don't need any offense from the bench!! There's not much left there.

Guess Doumit is going to be in RF or catching every game for a few days. Heaven forbid, we will have Jose Castillo as a DH this weekend if Nady can't go, or half of the McDuffy combo. Any one of those possibilities is not exactly going to make Roger Clemens nervous.

Littlefield Q+A
After reading the Q+A column with Littlefield on pirates.com, I've come to the conclusion that what we have is what we will see for the rest of the year.

In the short list of 6 questions, his thought processes boggle my mind. How can he hold on to his job?? It seems like he has already run up the white flag on 2007, and is worried about 3 years from now.

Uhhhhh
Pittsburgh Pirates: 0 for 15

Ryan Doumit: 2 for 2

Then Again...
...we ARE facing perennial Cy Young candidate Micah Bowie.

by bryanzane on Jun 6, 2007 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions

And...
we have one of this year's Cy Yuck candidates, Zack Duke, pitching for us. Somehow, we're only down 2-1 for now. Oops, never mind, it's 5-1 now.

C'mon Littlefield, call up Bullington. He can't do any worse. He's got more wins at AAA than our 3-4-5 starters combined do in Pittsburgh.

Duke
Is it me, or does it just look like Duke is not finishing his pitches at all?  His left leg just sort of falls to a set defensive position...

Time for Duke
to see if he can straighten things out in AAA.

but
what about Jack Wilson!? He's horrible! How many times have we seen that? Every game!?

why is he in the majors? can't hit, can't field...what is his talent? Being the worst professional athlete to NOT EARN his 5 million a year?

LaRoche
AAAAAAAAAAH!  Regardless of the call, that's the best you can do?  A tapper in front of home plate, and barely that? Against a nondescript journeyman righty?  LaRoche needs to pick it up, way up.

2007 Pirates
I live in Lancaster, so I don't get to see the Bucs all that often on TV.  Since they're playing the Nationals and I'm in their market, this game is actually being televised.  They suck.

Put Bixler on the plane with Bullington. If Nutting and Littlefield have no intent on making this year's team better through trades, etc., then bring up the guys from Indy that are performing, and get rid of the ones here that aren't.

PH
This is a perfect example of our problems. The 5 guys on the bench starting the game (including Paulino), average less than .230 as a group. And who gets the call, Kelly, the worst of the group. Does management think this is the NBA, where if you tank a season, you get a superstar in the draft?

This
Is the slowest developing train wreck I've ever seen.

by matskralc on Jun 6, 2007 10:10 PM EDT reply actions

Have we
done that yet this year? I thought we'd pretty much covered all the possibilities already this season.

A bad movie
We've seen this movie before during this season. Other team builds a big lead off one of our 'young' starters, we come back to make it close, and the bullpen gives it away at the end. Can we keep Marte and Capps, and fire the rest of the bullpen and bench?

by Thunder on Jun 6, 2007 10:18 PM EDT reply actions

Marte?
You mean Damnaso, the guy who did such a good job holding the lead last night?

by bucdaddy on Jun 6, 2007 10:25 PM EDT reply actions

Marte
Well, at least he hasn't blown up as frequently as the rest of the Arson Squad.
