Cincinnati vs. Pittsburgh, 7 August 2007

9:40 PM, FSPI, FSAZ

Micah Owings ( 5-5 4.91) vs. Tom Gorzelanny (9-6, 3.55)

Gorzelanny claims that the added rest has made him feel stronger.  Let's hope that added strength leads to a win for our hapless Bucos...

Pirates v DBacks
Looks like you need to change the post header from Cincinnati vs Pittsburgh to Pittsburgh vs Arizona.  Cut n paste error?  Anyways, the DodgerSims blog has the Pirates pre-game win probability at 46.25%, while the Las Vegas Hilton Sports Book has the Pirates pre-game win probability at 43.10%.  Good luck, please beat the DBacks for us!

LaRoche vs Kotchman
I still wish we'd traded for Casey K. Laroche has that lazy loop in his swing resulting in fly balls to left -- although he almost got that one out. Byrnes made a relatively easy play look hard there -- he got paid.

Gorzo
Looking a bit better velocity-wise high 80s-90

Gorzo Update
Ramps it up to 94 mph in the second inning...

J Upton
Looked good legging out that triple. Too bad the Bucs never draft high enough to get talent like him.

announcers squabble
Wehner says that Upton shouldn't have made a throw home and Frattare says he doesn't agree with him a couple of times. Instead of saying why he doesn't agree, though, Lanny goes straight to a "Safe Auto" promo.

Getting stronger by the inning
Seven Ks in five innings on 74 pitches. Upton is the only batter to have any success -- a triple and a dinger on two offspeed pitches.

Sweet play by Bay
I repeat, sweet play by Bay, stealing a homer from Mark Reynolds and then getting all of the mileage out of his arm to double up Upton at second base. Nice. Gorzo hitting 92-93 mph in the seventh. This has to be his last inning.

So Bonds goes deep
Long time since I saw his first hit in person 21 years ago. Wish he would've succeeded in the playoffs with the Bucs. Afterall, he was the MVP, not Van Slyke or Bonilla.
