Bream Hitting Instructor for the Spikes

Due to his infamous slide into home during the '92 NLCS and ushering in the beginning of the Pirates decade plus of futility, I was wondering what are the views of the Pirate faithful on his return to the Pirate organization? A welcome return or some sort of negative opinion? http://statecollegespikes.com/news/index.html?article_id=456

Bream
As long as he's teaching them how to hit and not how to run, I'm fine with it.

The curse is over! (Warning: crackpot theory)
I liked Sid Bream when he played for the Pirates.  In 1990, it always seemed like Bream was, well, clutch.  He was always coming up with a big hit (is how I remember it).  Not like an HR in the bottom of the 9th all the time, but, say, a two-run double to tie the game in the 7th and the Pirates would go on to win.  Seemed like once or twice a week.

Then, they "acquired" Carmelo Martinez from Philly, and in the playoffs against the Reds, Leyland (who I hate for other reasons) platooned Bream like it was July or something.

I get it, that statistically Redus or Martinez was better against lefties than Bream.  It just didn't seem right at the time to sit Sid in the playoffs.  Then Sid left as a free agent, and at the time I was pissed and blamed his leaving on the shabby treatment he received.

Bream was never again as good as he was in 1990 (and he wasn't even great, statistically).  I know the stats aren't on my side, but I view this as more of an "angering the baseball Gods" thing.  That Bream scored the winner in 1992 just fed my theory even more.

Now, we've welcomed him back, and maybe, just maybe, the baseball Gods will see fit to lift the curse of Sid Bream.

I ha the same crackpot reaction
I read it and yelled, "The curse is over!"  I've always called it the Bream, rather than the Bonds curse.

Bonds may also coach...
...I thought I saw in a 'Frisco blog that, given the lack of offers playing, Barry was considering an offer from the Spikes as a position coach and conditioning expert....
