Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Pathetic

I think that it's pathetic that only two-thirds of the invited players decided to show up and the "voluntary" minicamp.

If this franchise is going to begin to turnaround its culture of losing, then we need a reversal of attitude among Pirates players. They need to stop this selfish attitude and show up to support their teammates and new coaches. Who knows they just might learn something too.

In fairness...
...three of 'em are out due to visa issues, which doesn't really indicate a lack of desire.

Morri$
He's the one that interests me, because no reason was given.  He's never worked with Jeff Andrews, he's coming off a terrible debut with the Bucs, they've foolishly committed a rotation spot to him, one of the rationalizations for the idiotic trade to get him was the standard drivel that he'd provide veteran leadership and stability (like that's ever worked in the past), and he's in the last year of his albatross contract.  You'd think he'd want to get off to a good start for 2008.

Veteran pass
I banked on him missing.  A 10+ year guy a) doesn't need the check-in, period, and 1) if he has a poor work ethic or weight problem already, this little rah-rah session isn't going to do anything for him anyway.

Minicamp
DK said in his Q and A today that if you can get 16-17 pitchers to come to minicamp, its 16-17 more than most major league teams.  The fact that 2/3 came is encouraging rather than depressing.
