Resolved: Bucs Dugout & WHYGAVS ...
... should merge.
Don't know about everyone else, but I have limited time to read an unlimited number of blogs on finance, news, politics, and sports. Not that anything really matters other than the Steelers, Pirates, and Nittany Lions, but we have two good blogs in Bucs Dugout and WHYGAVS. We also have several others - i.e., the Pittsburgh Lumber Company - that exist in near anonymity. The iron law of economics suggest that one or more of these websites should cease to exist - anyone rode in an Edsel, Renault, or Ford (oh, wait, Ford hasn't died just yet) lately? I've found good articles on both, but I've increasingly only found time to visit one unofficial Pirates website. I'd like a robust Bucs Dugout to be THE best Pirates website in the free world today.

Wow. I don’t know what the appropriate response to that is. :)

Personally...
…I think we should have more Pirate blogs, not fewer. I run out of new posts to read before I run out of interest in reading them.
Sadly, my schedule doesn’t permit me to do much about it myself.

Well ...
… I hate to disappoint, but unless Charlie is making me a pretty serious buyout offer, I’m staying at WHYGAVS. I’m completely with Vlad on this one, the more voices and outlets we have for Pirate fans, the better.

How long before BD is listed on Forbes 500?
He’s making like $128K/year here, right? (I know, that was just an estimate of the worth or something, don’t bother me with facts).
Get Firefox, create a folder of Pirate Blog bookmarks, call it, oh, PP Blogs. Open Firefox, go to Bookmarks/PP Blogs, right click, choose “Open All in Tabs”. Learn to skim. Get an internal filter. Get your priorities straight and quit your job if needed.

Much more efficient way:
Set up an account at google.com/reader and subscribe to all the feeds of Pirate blogs you like. You can even subscribe to PG or official pirates.com news alerts in the same place—-they all pop up in chronological order and it tracks what you have and have not read. Just look for the little orange icon on all the sites. You can even download a firefox plugin that will show the # of unread items in your browser so you can click straight to them. And it’s all free..

Wow.
Hope everyone took my proposal in a positive light. As everyone noted, limited time doesn’t allow perusing every little item. I like WHYGAVS (and think that’s the first Pirates fansite I found) but I have migrated pretty solidly over here. The live game blogs are great – like sitting in a redneck bar watchin’ the game, knocking back a few beers – although all the comments got pretty recycled after the fifth inning of every game this year unfortunately. I would hate to see either die off through poaching each others readers.
Also unfortunately, while I’m sure the tech suggestions are great, I’m still clinging to the idea that a cell phone has one use and that I-pods are an evil plot to take over the world. So, they’re a little too technical f/me.

Evil I-Pod plot
In fairness, that one’s absolutely 100% true.
