Community Projection Review: Matt Morris

PLAYER POS. COMMUNITY ZiPS ACTUAL
Matt Morris SP 164.3 IP, 82 K, 47 BB, 5.25 ERA 188 IP, 106 K, 60 BB, 4.98 ERA 22.3 IP, 9 K, 7 BB, 9.67 ERA

Pirates fans, who watched Morris' disintegration in 2007 firsthand, beat ZiPS here, but I don't know why people predicted he'd pitch so many innings--maybe the idea was that the alternatives were so terrible that the Pirates would have no choice but to keep Morris in the rotation? In any case, the prediction of a 5.25 ERA was reasonable, and it's possible (though unlikely, given the way he was pitching) that Morris would have approached that mark if the Pirates had let him continue. Fortunately for all of us, they didn't.

Scoreboard, who guessed 54 innings, 22 strikeouts, 21 walks, and a 5.73 ERA, was the only person who got within 90 innings of Morris' actual total.

Let us never speak the name Matt Morris again.

At least not any more than we already are.

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!

Pitching Coach Hired

People,

The Bucs hired Joe Kerrigan to replace Andrews, per the PG.

I’m guessing he won’t start until after the World Series.

Good day.
