Also from the rest of the world: In a blow to the Milwaukee organization, the Mariners hired Brewers assistant Jack Zduriencik to be their new GM. Although it didn't hurt that he had a number of top draft picks to work with, Zduriencik helped load the Brewers up with top-flight talent. We'll see what kind of GM he'll be in Seattle--the ownership group he'll work with isn't exactly known for being hands-off.

Should be interesting. Seattle’s focus has been very heavily on international scouting, especially the Pacific Rim. For years they blew a lot of their top draft picks on dubious FA signings. The Brewers’ focus was mostly on the draft until they started getting active in Latin America a few years ago. They’ve used FA signings just to fill in holes around their young guys.

I was rooting for him to get the Pittsburgh job last year, before I had heard of Huntington. I liked his emphasis on power — Prince, LaPorta, Braun etc.
