BP posts Pirates Top 11 Prospects

The list is here for subscribers.  The order surprised me a little; Goldstein is very high on Robbie Grossman and Quinton Miller, for example.  That's promising since I assume Goldstein has more information on these guys than any one of us does.

Notably, 5 of the top 6 prospects are Huntington acquisitions.  Also of interest: "Andy LaRoche is an enigma who I refuse to give up on. His stat line looks like that of a Quad-A player, but his skill set— specifically his combination of power and good contact—does not."

Yeah. Sorry. Hope this won’t dissuade you from posting fanposts, because I think you could add a lot to the dialogue here.

I didn’t mention it, but I was intrigued by the LaRoche comment too.

OldStubbleBeard reminded me

I know it’s early, but when do you start with community projections? If I recall correctly, last year we didn’t get one in for everybody.

I think in February, when there’s less player movement. I’m worried if I start them now, there will be a major trade and lots of players we discuss won’t be starting.

If the Pirates traded their entire roster, I’m not sure it would qualify as a major trade.

In the MLB, no it wouldn't

but for us, it might barely sneak into that category

I totally agree with Goldstein on the Younger LaRoche

I have never been more confident in a player with a line as bad as .166/252/.256. I think he hits .280/.360/.480 next year. Really.
