Brewers Sign Jorge Julio

The Brewers have signed Jorge Julio to a one-year deal worth $950,000, plus another $950,000 in potential bonuses. Julio is a hard-throwing reliever who has control issues and is known for frustrating his employers, so I thought the Pirates might pick him up. For all that, though, he probably gets a bad rap--he's done a better job keeping the ball down as he's gotten older, and his strikeout rate is still quite high. He's probably a better bet to be an effective flamethrower next year than, I don't know, Derrick Turnbow, who the Brewers finally gave up on last year.
