Pirates #1 in Most Unimproved Team in NL

Well Jayson Stark's article at ESPN mentions how the Pirates are the most unimproved team in the NL, just based on sheer inactivity.  They were voted on by 22 baseball men.  Weird.  I don't buy that at all since the free agents this summer weren't very helpful to what the organization is trying to do and would have hurt us in the long run.

Also, why trade away our most valuable assets when they are at the lowest possible value?  That's what Littlefield would have done.  To his credit Stark does give respect to the new trio in the organization.  How can you pass judgement on someone who has had the job for only about 6 months.

Any thoughts?

I don't really have a problem with this.
I'm not sure who the Pirates could have brought in to put us above .500 without sacrificing a great deal of cash.  I've kind of resigned myself to another losing season.  I'd rather see NH made good decisions in the draft and start building for the future.

Start building for the future
That is great. Maybe we can pass on another stud catcher.  Maybe we can not sign any free agents because it would be silly to spend that money.  hahahahhahahahhaa

Looking forward to another last place season where the pirates are building to the future again.

at least there will be a lot of bobbleheads and fireworks to keep the fans distracted from the team.

maybe they will change ownership again where nutjob and mclastly will trade 2% of ownership again and call it - "new management."

Too Early
Maybe we are maybe we arent. It is way too early to tell that. Wait until the games are played. Who knows what players will break out this year. I am hopeful. I think we will be ok and that we were smart not to sign any stupid free agents. And yes I like have Mientewicz on our bench. I know I didnt spell that right but whatever.

A point on pointlessness...
During the winter  baseball vacuum, writers  use their pens as whisks and attempt to conjure up a tempting soufflé. Unfortunately, these attempts are more filler than fillet....
Nothin to see here... move along....

ESPN Actually knows there is a team in Pittsburgh?
I am suprised to find out ESPN knows that Pittsburgh exists. I was sure that ESPN stood for Eastern Sox & Patriots Network.
