Cuddyer, Twins Top Bucs 8-4

Michael Cuddyer went 3-for-3 as the Twins beat the Bucs, 8-4. Matt Morris, Paul Maholm and Jaret Wright were all knocked around.

Incidentally, Pirates.com is hilariously trying to spin Maholm's outing:

Maholm allowed two runs on three hits in three innings against the Twins. And, really, if it hadn't been for two infield singles, the two-out, two-run double off the bat of Justin Morneau would have been immaterial.

Yeah, no problem! Anyway, Sean Burnett pitched a scoreless inning and struck out two. It probably doesn't mean much, but in four innings he's got four strikeouts and no walks. Even considering the small sample and the meaninglessness of the competition, that line shocks me a little, considering how terrible Burnett looked last year. Here's hoping he can keep it going. Ryan Doumit and Adam LaRoche hit back-to-back homers off prospect Brian Duensing.

That could be a valid point
Just that the outing was not terrible. Yesterday, Mike Mussina (of the evil Yankees) "got rocked" f/two homeruns, both of which were shallow but high fly balls that got caught in the wind and blown over the wall.

Of course in spring training, you don't see how he reacts after a bad inning like that.

Maholm
Yeah, kinda like saying...."If it hadn't been for the three baserunners the guy allowed, the home run wouldn't have been a grand slam."
