Cincinnati vs. Pittsburgh, 13 April 2008
Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates, Apr 13, 2008 1:35 PM EDT
Johnny Cueto and Tom Gorzelanny, 1:35 PM. This one's fairly early for me here on the West Coast, but I'm going to try to get to work to watch it, because Cueto is just a phenomenon - in 13.1 innings pitched this year, he has 18 strikeouts and no walks. That's just amazing.

Ollie P. Update
1st - hits a batter, then gives up a home run.
2nd - 2 singles, wild pitch, and then gets out of it.
3rd just started and he seems to be settling down
it's irritating to see Perez do well. Tracy and that coaching staff were horrible. Nady is fine and all, but for god's sake Perez has #1 stuff, but #2 mentality. look what coaching and having someone in front of him has done.

Also, has anyone noticed how
our "saviors" are struggling at AAA? Pearce, Walker, and McCutcheon all were hitting poorly a few days ago. When 1 for 4 raises your batting average, its not good.
yeah
I saw that in the paper today, too. I think we can agree that it's good Nady is up here and pearce is down......at least for now

Give it time
They'll step it up when the weather gets warm there.
What, it's like T-ball
and they need hot chocolate on the bench? Many MLB games to date have been under cold, rainy conditions
Well...
there's a nice inning

Has to be lower than Morris's ERA
Can we shoot him yet? It's humane to put an old workhorse out of its misery.
The Pirates have outhit
their opponents just twice so far.
I know it's more or less irrelevant (it's the runs that matter), but given that they're 2-0 when they outhit the opponents, it'd be nice to see them get more hits every now & then.

Ollie P. Just Missed a 3-run homer
Not throwing it - hitting it just foul down the right field line in Shea.
And has a 4 run lead to boot.
I can only remember us having a 4 run lead in 1 game...last Sunday with Snell.
Freel
swings at everything. And makes contact with everything too.

He got 7 pitches

Ex Pirates
If the Mets had a former Pirate catching...their game would have all ex-Pirates batteries. Suppan and Kendall for the Brewers...and Ollie for the Mets. Don't suppose the Mets will sign Cota just to keep the trivia buffs happy.
Really small crowd today
I know it's due to rain but I'm looking at 5K at the most.
If it was 43 degrees
and raining...I wouldn't sit out in that weather for 3 hours either. Not for this team.
I would, maybe...
if they played in Utah.
And had student friendly (aka cheap) tickets.

$20 x number of empty seats = not resigning Snell/Gorzo/Doumit/McLouth/anyone when their contract is up.
the Yankees could be 0 - 161 with a 30 degree temp and 20,000 would show up.

And it's been 15 years!
complain. pittsburgh whines about losing so they stay away. GO TO A GAME, the added revenue make is more likely that the club responds. what about fans POSITIVE attitude leads to team response? i live 300 miles away and i make it to 10+ games a year. PNC is cheap compared to most places.
