For the Buccos
CF McLouth
SS Rivas
2 Sanchez
LF Jason-ity
RF X-Man
1 LaRoche
C Paulino
3 Bautista
P Snell (2-0, 3.93)
Paulino is 7-14 in his career against Rich Hill. Bautista is 0-14, Jason-ity is 0-12. Freddy is 4-14.
Rivas & Sanchez are batting 2-3… this’ll be interesting.
LaRoche & Bautista are both below the Mendoza Line.

For the Cubbies
2 Eric Patterson
SS Theriot
1 Lee
3 A-Ram
RF Fukudome
LF DeRosa
C Soto
CF Johnson
P Hill (0-0, 5.00)
Lee is 6-18 in his career against Snell. A-Ram is 7-20. Theriot is 4-11.
Patterson only has 2 ABs on the season… he was called up when Soriano went on the DL. The guy closest to the Mendoze Line for them (save Patterson, who’s batting .000) is A-Ram, who’s hitting .224.

Where's Doumit?
Still out with the flu or something
Come on McLouth
I thought you were a better base-running than that
Ah Rivas you suck
Is Jack Wilson off the DL yet?
Pirates Suck
HAHA THEY JUST SUCKKKKKKKKKKKKK
We knew that for 15 years
You don’t need to remind us for the trillionith time
LOL, excellent
Cubs fan here, just dropping in. Please don’t judge us all by sillybilly. He’s clearly an idiot.
Nanika Ga Okoru!
Thank goodness
Jason-ity stole 2nd. Otherwise he’d have had to stop at 3rd, and they would probably have been stranded.

I'm surprised X didn't run home
and alas we don’t get to score another one
They didn't want to risk it
given their recent “luck” at trying to get an extra base.
And they didn’t want Snell leading off the next inning.

Huh?
Said another way, they WANTED Snell batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd. That makes no sense. If he was going to be out, no, take your chances with Snell. If it was close, I’d send and hope the throw was off. With two outs, I have to wonder how hard Nady was running, though the ball was well-played. Just sayin’, you’re logic isn’t logical.
I didn't see the play
I just assumed that he’d have been “out by a mile”... in that case, running him would’ve been totally stupid.
If he had a shot at being safe, then ignore what I said…

Joey Bats (Bautista) hit a screamer toward the wall in left-field
one hopped off the wall to the LFer so I’d say only McLouth or Morgan would’ve gone home in that situation
To bad Snell can't bunt here...
he’s good at that.

Marisa Miller is one hot uber blonde
Just thought I’d say that
and like every other Rivas bunt
it turned out to be unsuccessful
Let me attempt to rephrase that
Ball went down the line Nady tried to field and it bounced right past him thus giving Theriot a chance to go to 3rd…...IMO that’s was a double with a 1-base error.
Meh.
All that matters is that the Cubs have a guy on 3rd.
And that the Pirates committed another error, scored as one or not.
Let’s get out of this one unscathed…

WAIT A MOMENT
scored as a triple! That was easily a double since Nady misjudged the ball on the wall down the RF line
I think he overplayed it
I think Nady was thinking of holding Theriot to a single, but couldn’t get to the ball before it hit the wall. He kind of got caught in no man’s land.
Snell not having his best stuff today
yet it’s only tied at 1
Come on Ian.
You’re supposed to be better than the others. You can’t implode now.

I can tell from this inning
the Bucs will not win a game this weekend
This is ridiculous
God
the other teams just have to hit the ball towards Luis Rivas every single time and they’ll win 99% of the games.

It's like LA
CHC is not crushing the ball, except for Fuku, but Pgh can’t field sharply enough to prevent runs.
Only gave up 3 runs...
that has to be a positive, no?
Biased Fan
A disillusioned Pirates fan in Utah...
nothing positive at all
Surely Snell’s down in the dumps now
If Jack does get off the DL
The first thing that needs to be done is DFA Rivas
Keep Bixler in the event of Sanchez going to the DL thus saving an option in the process.
how many times can McLouth be the hero? Someone else needs to step up…Bay is hitting well, but one hit per inning doth not a comeback make. Where is Doumit? I know he’s been sick, but get him in there now that they are into their relief.
Agreed.
The way it’s set up, if you’re counting on hits… you’ve got McLouth in the 1st, and then Bay & Nady in the 2nd. No one else is really hitting the ball, especially with Paulino in for Doumit.
Other players need to step up and get the hits.

Wow! Thanks Vlad. That’s pretty cool.

omg
when did the strikezone become the size of a dump truck
If Snell gave up 3 runs in 6 innings
in all 30 of his starts, he’d probably go something like 2-25. Not because 3 runs is a lot, but because the offense can’t score worth crap.

and on every other team
he’d have at least 15 wins a year
at least
Rivas can handle ground balls hit directly at him that don’t take any sort of strange hops.
Nate the man!
the hitting streak continues at 16
On the other side...
Rivas is batting at the Mendoza Line now.

Who
saw that coming?
Gaaaah. Snell and four days of hell.
Mientkiewicz for Paulino?
Is Doumit on his death-bed?

Should've batted...
Doumit, Gomez & Morgan in the 9th. Or something like that.
