Phillies vs. Pirates, 25 April 2008

Philadelphia Phillies at Pittsburgh Pirates, Apr 25, 2008 7:05 PM EDT

Adam Eaton and Zach Duke, 7:05 PM. Duke is now the third-best starter in the Pirates' rapidly deteriorating rotation. Awesome! Here's the box.  Doug Mientkiewicz gets another start at third.

Duke currently has two walks. Matt Garza just walked three Red Sox in a row. Is it just me, or are there more walks this year in general?

by Charlie on Apr 25, 2008 7:43 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Seems like more

but I can’t be sure.

Turns out, yes. 3.3 per game in both leagues in 2007; 3.6 per game in both leagues in 2008.

Offense behind the 8 ball already tonight

gotta have 5 runs to win…assuming bullpen keeps the door closed tonight.

Down 4

after 3.
Not a good start.

Sunday

looks like we won’t win before then…the way our pitching staff is going.

by Thunder on Apr 25, 2008 8:10 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I don’t know how they can continue to let Duke pitch. He’s got 80 pitches already. This is awful.

by Charlie on Apr 25, 2008 8:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Pitch count

at this point…the pitch count isn’t my concern…the effectiveness is.

by Thunder on Apr 25, 2008 8:14 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well, there’s that.

Do I owe you an email, Marc? I’ll get to that soon.

by Charlie on Apr 25, 2008 8:17 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not a problem man, I appreciate looking at it

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Don't suppose

we could get far enough through the lineup to PH for Duke this inning?

by Thunder on Apr 25, 2008 8:17 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

How about that! Back in it.

by Charlie on Apr 25, 2008 8:20 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

now we get to try and beat up some more good bullpen pitchers

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:22 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

oh and doug actually got into 2nd base without being thrown out.. how about that!

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Why did they let Duke hit? I’m mystified.

by Charlie on Apr 25, 2008 8:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

it worked… he hit the ball well and he got a 1-2-3 top of the 5th

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:31 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I'm not sure making an out "works"

I get what you mean, and our bench sucks, but I’m with Charlie. 1st and 3rd, I would like to have seen a hitter up there.

by azibuck on Apr 25, 2008 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

by it “works” I guess I was referring to them leaving zach duke out there to pitch

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Come on X-Man… 2 men right there waiting for you to drive them in!

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:37 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

damn Skippy… 6-5

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Wow look at the range for Dougie

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:46 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Duke’s in the on-deck circle?!

by Charlie on Apr 25, 2008 8:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

107 pitches! What the hell!

by Charlie on Apr 25, 2008 8:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

dont worry 0-3vas grabbed a helmet and bat!

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Oh. Great. :)

by Charlie on Apr 25, 2008 8:55 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

JR

does seem to have a slow hook…however.

by Thunder on Apr 25, 2008 8:57 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

first pitch swinging for 0-3vas and a groundout… I knew those numbers they put up were too good to be true

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:57 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yates comes in to pitch instead of Marte… boo

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 8:59 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Remember back when we thought Yates was good?

by Charlie on Apr 25, 2008 9:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That was so long ago though!

by Thunder on Apr 25, 2008 9:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Gasoline

got a match anyone?? Looks like our bullpen is trying to start a fire instead of put one out again.

by Thunder on Apr 25, 2008 9:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Lets go Nate… big hit. Remember back to when you were smoking the ball a few days ago. Start us off.

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 9:12 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Thats why you bunt him over

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 9:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

COME ON BUCCOS!!! TWO OUT LIGHTNING

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 9:44 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well...

if the Pens can come from 3-0 down to win…there’s no reason the Bucs can’t come from 6-0 down to win.

by Thunder on Apr 25, 2008 9:44 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

hey the tin man has a bat

by poorboywilly on Apr 25, 2008 9:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Big at bat for paulino… Fighting it

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 9:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

only to lead to a routine ground out.

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 9:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’d like to see a HR off their closer for McLouth like he did off Saito in LA

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 9:57 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

With Lidge pitching

it’s possible that someone goes deep to tie or win the game. Was it Nate or Nady that did it opening day in Houston last year.

by Thunder on Apr 25, 2008 10:00 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Think they said it was Nady..

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 10:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well 2 outs, all up to Bay (6 for 14 against Lidge, 2 HRs)

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 10:02 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well that was a quick inning… good come back try

by MarcB on Apr 25, 2008 10:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Keeping things interesting just isn’t enough. Guess we’ll need to wait till Sunday to win…unless our offense goes double digits tomorrow.
