Lots of thunder out here in the North Hills
It might take a while before this game starts.

Three options
1) A LONG rain delay today in hopes of getting the game in.
2) Double-header tomorrow.
3) Game played the Monday after the season ends, if necessary.
The only common day off the Pirates and the Braves have the rest of the season is 7/10. And that is in the middle of a West Coast trip for the Braves. Highly unlikely MLB will have the Braves play on the west coast on 7/9 and 7/11 and in Pittsburgh on 7/10.

Answer...
I will proclaim from the getgo that I am a Tigers fan and commentor on Bless You Boys. I have a question for any of you that may be willing to help out. WHY IN THE HELL DO THEY SIT Doumit? The kid is tearing it up, but rather than just have him start he sits every third it seems like. I understand the L/R thing, but damn, he is hitting.
Thx.

Best guess is...
health. Doumit has had injury problems in the past, and I’m guessing that the Pirates hope an occasional rest will prevent a reoccurance.

Why Paulino?
If given a choice of catchers by Russell, particularly with a lefty pitching (even though Doumit is a SH), I suspect that some of the starters would prefer Paulino behind the plate. While Doumit has made great strides this year, Paulino is still the better receiver.

According to mlb.com
They’ve changed the status of the game from delayed to postponed, but no info on when.

Only question now is...
straight DH tomorrow, or day-night DH?
by Thunder on May 11, 2008 2:27 PM EDT 0 recs
Never attended a DH
if it is straight, do I see both on one ticket?

Yes
a straight doubleheader (which used to occur 5-10 times a year about 30 years ago) is one ticket. A day-night doubleheader is two separate admissions.

Nice
I think I may go.
More important question…all you can eat seats still regular price for TWO games?

This kicks ass by the way
now Jair Jurrjens is a two start pitcher for me in fantasy next week :)

I wish the Buccos had him
Snell, Gorzo, Jurrjens, Maholm, and Duke would be an excellent rotation as compared to now-retired Morris and Dumatrait.

He was offered for Nady last year
I think Dejan said that at some point earlier this year

I thought
it was for some deal involving Jack Wilson & a reliever or something like that.

You're probably right
I was kind of guessing about Nady, just knew it was rumored that Jurrjens was offered.
I know not having Jack out there is killing us right now, but I really like Jurrjens and definitely would have liked that deal.

Pairings for tomorrow
Game 1, Jurrjens vs. Duke
Game 2, Hudson vs JVB
per Post-Gazette. Dumatrait and rest of staff moved back a day.
