When we faced Marquis earlier this year...
we lost 13-1.
He gave up 6 hits & 1 run in 6 innings, K’ing 7 and walking 1.
Gorzo last 2.2 innings in that game.
After him, we threw out… Dumatrait.
He went 2.1 innings, giving up 2 hits and walking 1.
Dumatrait’s career ERA against the Cubs is 7.36. Not good.
Of course, his career ERA is 7.62 (3.96 this year, 15.00 last year)

Oops. Hit post too quick. Here is what I found interesting...
“An American League scout watching one of Dumatrait’s first two starts, using a detailed grading system, came up with an overall score that ranked Dumatrait as “a No. 2 or 3 starter.” Such an assessment is not reached lightly, either, as scouts often are required to explain unusual evaluations to their general managers.”

I hate to do this, honest
But what time is the Pens game? And it’s on Versus and not some weird other channel right? Because I’m looking and I’m scared I’m blacked out. :S
Good to see us score some first inning runs, I hope Dumatrait can hold it together. It would be pretty damn fun to win today.
We should just do the slow=pitch softball thing with Soriano...
Point to first and have him take his base.
So far for Lincoln for Hickory
4 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1K.
In what universe
is it possible that our pitchers don’t lead the league in walks allowed? This one, I guess.
Three of them do
believe it or not. Colorado, San Fran and Milwaukee, going into today.
Heh. Yeah, thanks Coors Field and Barry Zito.

Milwaukee
has just imploded this year, so it seems.

Yeah, hm. The Bucs led a couple weeks ago.

Same universe
where it’s possible for horsespit Jason Marquis to have us by the ‘nads.
Yeah. I’m going to write about that little blurb later today.

It sounded way too optimistic.
And it probably is…

Eh, no kidding. Maybe Littlefield is scouting now.

Micah Hoffpauir pinch-hitting.
Who?
First I’ve ever heard of him…

Called him up today. Ward went on the DL.

Looked like a left-handed Bixler there.

The Penguins
should give some goals to the Buccos as runs.

This will be
the 11th game this year Pirates pitchers have walked seven or more.
8, 11, 8, 10, 7, 8, 9, 9, 7, 7, 7 and counting.
the other three
Milwaukee = 8 (9, 8, 8, 7, 8, 8, 9, 8)
Colorado = 4 (7, 7, 8, 8)
San Fran = 4 (7, 8, 7, 7)
Pirates now
4-7 in games where they walk 7 or more.
It may be just coincidental, since we’ve played the Cubs more than anyone else, but five of those 7+ walk games have been vs. Chicago. And to think, this series we should have walked Soriano about seven times.
What is the Pirates record now
in games where they have a chance to hit .500?
I leaning towards very very bad, bordering on horrific.
