Typical Pirate start
Sanchez grounds into a double play. UGH

I know it’s early so far, but Dumatrait definitely makes me feel better than Morris did…

With Morris Starting
it would be 5 nothing right now. That being said, I take comfort that the new regime had the courage to eat the 10 Mil it was saddled with by the Keystone cops.

Yeah, we’ve been working him pretty hard. Reminds me of how we tried to handle Santana the other night.

This must be what it’s like for fans of other teams when they get to watch them play us.

I just had to log on and tell someone
that I am flabbergasted at how well Dumatrait has looked through two innings. Where did this 92-94 mph consistent fastball come from? How many off-speed pitches has he thrown? At some point he’ll have to throw more benders, but right now his fastball has velocity and great movement.

Who are these guys?
and what did they do with our Pirates?

Lumber Company
Maybe the Bucs are preparing for Willie Stargell Lumber Company Bobblehead night next Friday.

I almost made it here before the first run crossed the plate.
That would’ve been shocking.

Nice start for the offense and Dumatrait. Wish the game was not blacked out on mlb.tv for me.

Wehner and Frattare
How about Wehner responding to Frattare’s comments that LaRoche was scratched because of a jammed wrist. Wehner said that LaRoche put on his best batting practice display of power all season long. Frattare didn’t respond, he just moved onto another topic. Think a lefty pitcher put LaRoche on the bench?

Gameday is way behind right now...
Jose K is still batting.

WTH with Dumatrait?
Not to jinx him or anything mind you.
by Hitman Easler on May 2, 2008 8:40 PM EDT 0 recs
Looks like the Nats have caught up with Dumatrait's fastball a bit
Sanchez airmails a relay throw home over Doumit. Is that necessarily a bad thing?

phil
he’s been effective out of the bullpen so i dont see it as a shock that he’s throwing well now…..but he has started to struggle after a few innings….so watch out.

I'm sorry but this trivia question competition between the four broadcasters
is lamer than the pierogy race. Who cares?
by JimBibbySweat on May 2, 2008 8:46 PM EDT 0 recs
i kind of like it
before now it was COMPLETELY pointless…..

I have to give Bautista credit… while he didn’t get the out, that is the kind of play that, earlier in the season, would have been hilariously tragic.

My goal for the end of this season, is to make you guys more positive thinkers. Always thinking that we can not hold leads, etc..
by MarcB on May 2, 2008 9:12 PM EDT 0 recs
Of course we can hold leads
both of them we have over the course of the full year.

I have the game on mute
is it going to get started again soon?
by DITO on May 2, 2008 9:18 PM EDT 0 recs
Well...
The announcers said that they might suspend the game, but the on-field announcer lady said that they could potentially have to replay the game at a later date, thereby eliminating our awesome lead :(

ranging from 89-93, but he keeps missing his spots, he’s low a lot.

That was a pretty good pitch
It was on the outside corner, but it was a breaking ball lefty to lefty. I don’t know how you don’t swing at that.
by DITO on May 2, 2008 9:35 PM EDT 0 recs
The 4th inning has proved to me
Dumatrait is not starter-material. He has to get outs on the 2nd and 3rd go round through the order and he has failed to do that.
by Bad Andy on May 2, 2008 9:35 PM EDT 0 recs
You are definately right,
but he’s shown enough that he deserves another look or two. I least he isn’t putting a ton of people on base for free, and he has struck out four.

Okay.
When does he start serving his 25 game suspension? A think a 2 home run game is prima facia evidence of steroid use f/Jose B.

I don't know who Mike O'Connor is
but he has a pretty nasty little hook

I wonder if McClouth leads the league in broken bats. I don’t see nearly as many from anybody else on any team I’ve watched this season.

Capps in the 8th and 9th for a two-inning save? He hasn’t pitched in a while.

nothing to show for it
by DITO on May 2, 2008 10:09 PM EDT 0 recs
The announcers were saying earlier that there is a pretty big dead space in the middle of the park where those balls just kinda die out.
