Bucs Activate Jack Wilson
The Bucs have activated Jack Wilson and optioned Brian Bixler to Indianapolis. The Sports Network is the only publication I can find that's reporting this, but it's consistent with what we thought would happen today, and TSN has gotten these sorts of things right in the past.

Press pass notes
has it as well on pirates.com. Reds press notes say that move to account for Jay Bruce will be announced prior to the game tonight.
Shortstop.
I’m glad to get Jack back, but I kind of wish that they’d held onto Bixler instead of Rivas. I know they’ve said that they want Bixler to get regular PT at AAA so that he can develop, but I think that he pretty much is what he is at this point, and Rivas is just such a lousy defender.
Wouldn’t they have to DFA Rivas? I’d probably just DFA him anyway, on the grounds that it should be easy to pick up better free talent if you need it, but that’s probably a major reason why they’re keeping Rivas and not Bixler. I agree with you, though, Bixler’s a utilityman and it’s silly to bother trying to develop him.

thank god
We may be able to play an errorless game or two now.
As for Rivas, he wasn’t a very good defensive second baseman, I don’t know why they thought he could be a shortstop.
