Jonah Keri has a new article at ESPN.com about "the failure dynasties." Amazingly, the Pirates aren't the first team on the list, and Keri predicts them to have a winning season in 2010. That looks optimistic to me, if anything, but I'll take it.

he just listed the teams in alphabetical order.
Also, I couldn’t help noticing the three sponsored links at the bottom of that story, geared I suppose to the average Pirates fan, are for Pirates ringtones, Pirates tickets and medical hair restoration. I could draw some conclusions from that but I think it speaks for itself.

The Nats announcers are clueless. They keep calling Paul Malholm “Pat.” They’ve been screwing stuff up since the first game of this series.

Especially with Doumit sitting on the bench and Pearce in AAA and all that jazz.

they needed one hit to even the game up, and they turn to Paulino and Mientkiewicz. Doumit would’ve been a better option.

about a catcher injury?
If so, pinch-hit with Doumit and then put him at first, taking out LaRoche. And if an injury occurs, bring in Mientkiewicz.
When you need runs, you should take advantage of the hitters on the bench and use them.
