let’s hope the offense can score some runs tonight (if they can’t hit Zito, there’s no hope)
You’ve got to sit him sometimes, so I guess it makes sense to sit him against lefties. It’d be wonderful to get him in there at first or something, though.

Zito
is throwing 85mph four seam fastballs and 81-82mph two seam fastballs at the letters…my prediction is this gets ugly fast
It's only the 1st inning
It took the Bucs 3 innings yesterday to get it going.
He was probably waiting on one of those 81 MPH heaters.

I was at last night's game
so all I saw when Burnett was in were some hard-hit balls that weren’t very encouraging. But, FSN’s gun read 92, huh? I’d say that is reason enough to give him a while to see if he can fall into a bullpen role.
Yeah, he threw one 92-MPH fastball that I saw. The couple others where I paid attention to the velocity were around 90.

I’d change my name to something funny for the ability to be an MLB starting shortstop, even a catastrophically awful one.

Bay
Just jumped on for a second….was listening to Bob Walk critique Paulino’s at bat when he chased a 2-0 pitch. Walk was right on, talking about how when you are in control you look for something to drive. In hitters counts you have to take advantage and look for your pitch. This is why I was apoplectic when Bay took a 3-1 fastball right down the pipe in the first inning with two runners on. Yea the guy has 26 walks, but is hitting below .200 w/RISP. He needs to drive that pitch. I don’t get it. He pains me. Send him to Seattle quickly please.
Oh my
that was not a strike.
Did you see Molina’s attempt to frame that? He pulled his glove down over a foot.
His changeup looks good,
but he doesn’t have the fastball to go with it. There is no way he can keep zeros up much longer.
Hyperbole on my part.....
Focker had 11 k’s coming in and has 5 tonight.

Don't blame him too much
If Bautista starts to hit like we think he can it would help the lineup out a lot, and I think I would really like this one through five.
Does anyone know
why the guide says ESPN is airing the Indians Yankees game, but they are just showing ESPN News?
Amazing...
I haven’t missed a run yet today.
Even after missing 3.5 innings.

If Nady keeps rakin like this all year
We might end up getting THREE prospects!
87 pitches after 4 for Zito!
I’d say the Bucs will finish him in the fifth.
Is that good or bad?
No Hennessey to kick around tonight.

64 pitching after 5 innings
3rd time around may be treacherous but then again they ARE the Giants.
watching on gamecast,
so I didn’t see the pitch, but why was Freddy first pitch swinging with Zito already @ 88 pitches?

He's on the Pirates.
It’s natural instinct to swing at the first pitch.

I saw a stat the other day
that showed Freddy is in the top 10 in the league for fewest pitches per plate appearance.
that's not how you bat leadoff
probably more like when you bat 2nd in the order.
5-2/3, 3 H, 5 K.

Remember earlier in the season
when the Pirates wanted to be an aggressive base-running team and it repeatedly ended in tragedy? Those were the days…
.500 or bust...
I hate Paulino!
At least DFA RoPaul and bring up Chavez to back up Doumit
May as well have let Yates hit
instead of 0 for 3vas.
Why in the world
do they pinch-hit with Rivas?
What happened to Mientkiewicz? Or Doumit? Or even Morgan?

Rivas
reaches bases on an error…the irony

McCutchen
is not playing for Indy tonight…for the 2nd night in a row. Injured??
I don't see anything
showing him being injured.
So probably not. Unless they’re hiding it…

Damaso K'n the Giants 1-2-3
Think his trade value’s back to where it was at the start of the season?

This is worrisome
because he’s been playing with a chip on his shoulder this series.
.500 or bust...
Elsewhere...
Cincy won, Cubs lost.
Brewers losing late (8th) to the Marlins.
Cards up early on the Rockies.
Houston tied with the Nats in the 6th.

Phil Dumatrait
got his first MLB win, but against a team with AAA talent. Let`s see him get another one next time out against a real team.
