Pirates Demote Nyjer Morgan

The Pirates have demoted Nyjer Morgan, perhaps to replace him with Indianapolis outfielder Kevin Thompson, who's no world-beater but can handle all three outfield positions and hit a lot better than Morgan can. The Pirates claim this is about Morgan's "development," but one hopes they don't really think that; Morgan is what he is.

I'm already on record in support of this move, so I won't belabor the point. Instead, I'd like you to ponder, for a second, how many games the Pirates would have lost already if Jim Tracy were still manager and the Pirates were starting Morgan and Ronny Paulino instead of Nate McLouth and Ryan Doumit. What might their record be? 8-26? 10-24?

After reading this article in regards to Nyjer you hit the nail right on the head. Keep up the good work.

Charlie

Thanks for the reminder about Tracy`s fetish with Nyjer Morgan. It`s good to see Morgan heading back to where he belongs in the organization. We wouldn`t want to stand in the way of his development. I don`t know how excited I am about Jason Michaels, but he`s got to be more useful than Nyjer Morgan.

Add to those losses...

more losses everytime Zach Duke pitched because Colburn insisted on tweaking his delivery so that he successfully took one of the best young pitching prospects to come along in many years and converted him into a pitcher who made every batter the NL’s leading hitter. Geesh! That alone should be enough to keep Colburn out of baseball for the rest of his life! Don’t forget to factor in his insistance of playing Duffy in CF ahead of Nate.
