Pirates to Recall Nyjer Morgan
Nyjer Morgan is returning to the Bucs, the Post-Gazette reports. The article suggests that the reason is because Xavier Nady will be heading to the DL, and that seems likely, since Morgan has done nothing at Indianapolis to warrant a promotion; he has a .559 OPS there. Ryan Doumit is likely to return to the lineup soon, which is a good thing, since Jason Michaels isn't a great bet to replace Nady's bat, regardless of his decent hitting since joining the Bucs.
UPDATE: No, actually, it's Morgan up, Marino Salas down. Thanks to Thunder for catching that.

Good.
Calling up Salas in the first place (for a 2nd stint) was a mistake.
He’s been just plain bad.
Of course… now the bullpen has even fewer players… and with our starting pitching, that could be a bad thing.
The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

Morgan replaces Salas on the roster-
so maybe we can get Mr. Excitement to provide some middle-relief, in addition to his breath-taking defense and awe-inspiring baserunning.

Does anybody have an idea
as to why Morgan was brought up instead of Pearce, Walker, or McCutchen? It doesn’t appear that Morgan was hitting well and I can’t understand why we haven’t seen McCutchen or Pearce. I really think Morgan’s future lies in the NHL rather than MLB.

They wanted a bench guy.
Walker, Pearce, and Cutch all need to be playing regularly, since they’re still developing (Pearce is pretty much finished offensively, but they’ve said they think he needs more glove time).
Nyjer pretty much is what he’s going to be, so they can use him once or twice a week off the bench without worrying about damaging his future.
