Ah...

the Post-Gazette has it.

For the first time in 52 years, a Pirate pitcher will bat somewhere other than ninth.

Yeah, saw it...

just the last place I looked. Went to MLB, Yahoo! & ESPN to see if they had the batting line-ups up very early…

Now it makes no sense

to have Maholm batting 8th. Just have Jack lead off. It would still leave you with…
SS Jack
2B FPF (first pitch Freddy)
CF Nate Sr
LF Bay
C Doumit
RF Nady
1B The Roach
3B Minky
P Maholm.

Not much difference…just means Jack gets 1 more at bat than with Russell’s lineup.

There are currently 87 players in the NL eligible for the batting title...

Of those 87, your leadoff hitter for the PBC tonight ranks 86th in OBP. That’s right. Getting on base.

He is also dead last in OPS in the league.

PNC question

Hello Buccos,
Dodger fan planning a trip out to PNC. Need some help with the seating chart. I see the field boxes have a row AA. Is that behind Z or up in front??

Thanks

89 pitches through 7 innings,

and you take the starter out. This is a part of the game that I just don`t agree with anymore. An overworked bullpen; that has some suspects because of injuries, but you still don`t take the opportunity to look for a CG. Anyway, hope we keep the lead and get the win.

by patthatt on Jun 30, 2008 9:23 PM EDT reply actions

JR can't win here

If there’s been one major criticism of JR on this site, it’s that he keeps his starters in one inning too long. (Sadly though, I agree with you in this instance.)

This is a perfect example of stupid management

of a pitching staff. Maholm should`ve pitched the 8th, and with good results, should`ve been back out there in the 9th. 89 pitches and you take the guy out….Retarded.

John Russell should get fined by the kangaroo court for this one.

39-43

The team motto for the second half should be:

Let`s WIn 78 In 2008!
