Justin Upton is 1 for his last 30
Schizo may get out of this yet
TGID
Thank God It’s Doumit. The sun shines just a little bit brighter over the ‘burgh today :P
.500 or bust...
53 pitches now
We may have a Bullington sighting tonight
Oh cool
Grandpa Moyer is pitching for the Phils tonight. It’s fun to watch him face batters who were 6 years old when he started his Major League career.
.500 or bust...
Webb is flithy
No way in Hell we’ll score tonight
and by that, I mean
I could accidentally check swing a couple to short or first to be thrown out every single goddamn time I make contact with the ball.
.500 or bust...
Snell has no idea where the ball is going half of the time.....
Doumit lines up low and in and he throws it high and away.
I smell a no-hitter tonight for Webb
His stuff is unhittable
i was all over this......

Anyone remember the near no-no Jeff Fassero threw in '94
The one where he was1 strike away then Jay Bell hit a smash off him? Then I beleive Garcia hit a HR in the next at-bat.
Snell
may get to 100 pitches on Salazar alone…

97 now
through 4 innings. Oh my.
So why would Drew swing at the first pitch there?

A good thing the bullpen is rested.
Cause I think they are going to get about 4 innings tonight…and probably a bunch tomorrow.
very true
but who needs ‘em when Duke, Dumatrait and Maholm come around?
We have the inverted rotation

The first smart thing I've seen Snell do all season.
Actually admitting that he’d had enough for the game. I doubt they were going to let him go out for another inning anyway, but if you are hurt, you have to say something to stop it from getting worse. No use messing up your elbow or shoulder because your back hurts.
Wonder if it will be bad enough to DL him
Took a liner right square on his lower back in the 3rd
Probably not...
likely to be just a bruise. With as quick as the Pirates have been batting, it just took 2 innings for it to stiffen up.
yay!
i’m happy but in shock

Double-switch
Osaria up will bat 7th
Gomez at 3rd will bat 9th
Interesting
that Bautista gets lifted in the 2-fer. Franky on to pitch.
WHOA
Altoona’s Yoslan Herrera pitching 7 scoreless innings
That’s a first.
that is bad news

I see that we’re making another pitcher look like Nolan Ryan + Bob Gibson + Tom Seaver
and
My Magic Hat told me not to wish for a three-headed fish – and that’s the first Magic Hat I’ve delved into tonight. It might be a sign for the Bucs.

Wow!
Snell struck out 9? And only 1 earned run? He didn’t last quite long enough to get a quality start, but he gets some bonus points today.
Guess you missed
the 107 pitches he threw…and that’s with a 10 pitch 5th inning.
i think i'll still take it
based on what he’s been doing lately

Guess that Joggin Ronnie
missed the plane to Indy…he’s not starting tonight. Michel Hernandez catching for the Indians.
Speaking of Detroit
Did anyone else see that we released – not traded, but just released – the right-handed reliever we got from Detroit for Sean Casey? I wouldn’t mind but his ERA was around 2.5 and I’m not sure why we wouldn’t try to get cash, or a PTBNL, or 2 tickets to a Broadway show or something for him.
I think Brian Rogers wanted out
He was yanked around Indy and Altoona apparently. He wasn’t even on the 40-man roster
Well maybe if he had not imitated a pitching machine last year.....
when he was up…...
by Hitman Easler on Jun 6, 2008 9:13 PM EDT up reply actions
Mayhap, but
a 2.50 or so ERA? Couldn’t we trade him for four or five maple bats to someone? Even if middle relievers are a dime a dozen, there just cannot be that many people doing middle relief well that we couldn’t get something for him. All in all, it seems like a minor mistake by the new headshed.
I'm sure there's more to the story
on Rogers…not that we’ll ever hear it. I only see 2 possibilities. 1) He wanted out because he knew he could go somewhere else and actually have a shot at getting back to the majors. or 2) something happened off the field that forced management’s hand.
Yeah,
like he’d fight.

Of course he would,
the only problem is he would swing and miss.
We still got the best of that deal, though. I don’t think what’s his name has made it back from surgery yet. I heard his name mentioned in connection w/Smoltz’s season-ending surgery.
Gonzo
was supposed to be up earlier, but I don’t think he’s fully recovered yet.

right
He was specifically mentioned as “not quite ready to return” just a few nights ago. At least we have someone to fill a uniform.
The funny thing is that the Braves fans were, as I recall reading at the time, irate at the trade. They thought they had been hornswaggled.
Did anyone really
win that trade?
They got a reliever that’s been injured since, we got a 1st-baseman that couldn’t hit in a T-ball league.
The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!

Oh, I think
LaRoche could hit off a tee.
It’s slo-pitch softball that’d be his undoing.

We must 've lost the in the trade
Littlefield made it. There’s no way it could be beneficial to our side
He'd miss the fight
because he’d be thinking about his deer stand.
No,
he’d take a big, long swing and miss.

If one Pirate swings at another w/a bat
is it an assualt w/a deadly weapon? You’d have a great defense.
Everyone would laugh it off
not like there would be any contact or anything

Only if it is

Like Rivas
Only if the Bases are loaded and we’re down by 3
I just noticed something interesting
while looking for something else. The Indy pitching staff is ENTIRELY right handed. Not a lefty in the bunch. Guess if one of our lefties gets hurt, Russell will have to put up with a righty.
What is
Bullington? He’ll be back there in a day or so…

Our middle relief
seems to be a strength this year. ERA’s are high, but I think that stems from isolated very bad outings.
