I would have liked to see him pitch

Though I know it would still have been unlikely; but his body would have held together.

Well, congratulations. Everyone did. And look what happened. Nate McLouth almost pitched.

"That’s fine if you want to see 81 (mph)," the Pittsburgh center fielder said.

btw, 81 seems pretty good to me since I was clocked at 44 mph in beer league softball spring training :)

how do Pirates fans view McLouth as a fielder?

The half-season metrics put him as pretty bad in center. Do Pirate fans think that way, too?

McLouth's defense

I was surprised when I saw the defensive metrics rate McLouth as poorly as they do. He is not great, but he gets OK jumps and has good speed so his range seems at least average to me from watching games.

Not a true CF...

He’s been playing out of position and was below average early in the year. He has route has improved as the season has progressed but he still plays a little shallow at times (for my taste). His speed is his biggest asset and does make the occassional exciting play. Long story short, he’s doing a good job holding down the fort until mcCutchen is ready when he will be shifted to RF. I believe his best position is LF though especially at PNC. I’m going with RF on the belief that Nady will be dealt and not Bay.
