falling far from the tree tonight. Every team in the system above Bradenton is getting beat tonight. Lincoln gave up 5 to Potomac in 4+...and the rest of the bullpen has given up 8 more.

It's difficult to win
when we are playing 9 vs at least 11 (including home and 2nd umpires).
The only thing that's been wrong with Snell's hand
is that there has been a baseball in it.

but the Pirates pitchers tend to forget that the first inning counts, too.

is for Snell to have a “pre-first” inning (practice?) where he can get the “getting hammered” out of the way before the game, right?

about the whole “pitcher batting 8th” thing?
i pose that we have had LESS offense in the games since JR imposed it. Anyone?
i don't know
i have noticed though that the number 9 batter has led off a lot of innings since it happened. which is a good thing if it’s jack, but at that same time, i don’t know if it would have been better for jack to bat the inning before that either.
i really don’t think it has mattered

there have been
a NUMBER of situations where the pitcher has come up with at least 2 guys on base though…i know we haven’t won more than one game in a row since he altered the lineup.

Jamie Moyer beat the Marlins tonight. He has 10 career starts against Florida and has won all 10. He’s 5-0 on the road vs. Florida, with a 1.34 ERA. He’s still 45, and he’s done all this in the past three years.

he actually didn’t pitch that bad. Got a quality start, the 3rd run was unearned, and was pretty solid after that first inning
