God help me I don’t know how many E’s to put after the X, so I’ll do it phonetically: Braves ship TeshEEra to the Angels for Casey Kotchman and a minor-leaguer.
See, this was what I didn’t understand about the Bay-to-the-Braves rumors: Why would the Braves be buyers instead of sellers? I take this as evidence they’re not.
the Bay to the Braves rumors started a little bit ago…Since then the Braves have been terrible, Chipper went on the DL, and Hudson is now probably out for the season. They were on the fence whether or not they would be buyers, but with all that has happened in the past week they became sellers on Teixeira because he is a free agent at the end of the year and they can’t resign him.

Mark Bowman's next rumor is that...
...Kotchman was acquired to flip for Bay, but that Ted Turner or Chief Nockahoma or someone killed that.
Seriously, if you consider Nady’s whole career, and that he’ll be 30 next year, he looks a lot like a kind of generic outfielder next year. Most of his value is as a rental for this year, and when you look at what the Braves got here, then what NH got doesn’t look too shabby.

Paging Dr. Ohlendorf
Dr. Ohlendorf, please pick up the white courtesy phone.
where's everyone
that was saying after that one Herrera start he had turned the corner? Seems like that start was the fluke, not the 3 others
SSDD
same (stuff), different day. Last week was the exception to the rule. Will the next starting candidate sign in please. Guess Jason Davis will get to see some action, and probably at least 1 start before disappearing.
the guy was dead at third, too
if the throw doesnt hit him

Herrera
Don’t give up oh him so fast. I don’t think that the Pirate brain trust will. They know he can pitch.
They also know JVB can pitch
It’s just that JVB and Herrera can’t pitch well.
ha yeah that was going to be my same response

Maybe it's just me
but I feel more confident with Rivas batting than Wilson lately

McLouth
looks like he’s been toning up a little… I swear he was a little softer-looking earlier in the season.
.500 or bust...
YES!

It would be all sorts of strange
if Rivas were to homer next time up. I think he’d be listed as least likely on the Pirates roster to hit for the cycle. Or at least was, until Bixler got called up today.
What about
the pitcher’s spot?
Or, the way he’s playing now… Jack Wilson
The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.

Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".
Wasn't counting pitcher's slot
because on this team the same pitcher bats 4 times in a game about once every 6 weeks.
Is it
really that often?
I was thinking once or twice a season.

I think the past couple of months
have spoiled us.
I’ll have to give you Maholm… let’s say 6 times a season. Max.

Haha
If Bixler ever hits for the cycle, I swear on my beloved dead grandmother’s grave that I will streak through my neighborhood while playing my trombone.

You can't qualify that
you said “ever” first. That means ever.

nah, I would go with Jack
he can’t hit a homer. Off the bat earlier in the game one looked like it had a shot but it ended up being straight at the OF

Russell Better Get Somebody Up
You know that I am a Herrera fan, but this is a good move.
why was it stupid?
Slowly hit, Taveras running, that’s a tough play to first. throwing home is basically a sure out…..at the worst you have a full-fldged rundown

They made the right play there...both times
it just looked weird. Nice work. Kudos to Davis, too.

Smart Thinking ...
The batter would have been dafe at first.
For those of you who are old enough to remember Bob Prince, he would have never mangled the call on the ground ball to Wilson like the clowns in the booth.
Hmmmm
Bob Prince compliment… The Gunner username… A-HA! YOU’RE THE GHOST OF BOB PRINCE!

Walkie just beat me to it
but I was about to comment that the Buccos have been more daring on the base paths lately
.500 or bust...
Nice work if you can get it.
Davis comes in, throws 5 strikes, and is in line for the win.
So... who do you have less confidence in when you need a hit...
CGz or Jack Wilson?
Just curious.

I unfortunately have to say Jack
because CGz doesn’t play enough to give me as consistent a read. He’s popped a few clutch hits here and there…
.500 or bust...
Matsraic
I think that Walk is fairly knowledgeable about the game. He just has a difficult time describing it, as do ALL of the Pirates’ announcers.
What's with Rivas?
Looks like he’s removed his goalie glove (April) for a fielders glove.

Hmmm
Greg just said the Pirates are considering trying to keep Minky for next season. I would have no problem with that. He’s got the fire our team needs.

They are fine options
off of the bench.
I’d be fine with it.
Keep Eye Chart for a year or so, and then make him manager.

Don't you get the feeling
Bay wants out of the ‘burgh? He’s hitting his way right out of there!
Just got in
nice to see Herrera didnt give u seven or eight…
By the way, Lackey is no-hitting the Sox through 8

not the closer, it doesn’t seem.

Good thing he had a 6-0 lead
Youkilis took him deep 2 pitches after the Pedroia single.
Unfortunately...with Burnett in...
that means we see Yates, Beam or Gasoline in the 9th.
I'm going with
Wreck Speck or Beam (not necessarily in that order). They’ve been fine as of late.

Sucks :/
I got stuck kinda late at work tonight, too… I usually get out about 5:45, but tonight, I got out at 7, and by the time I got home from the gym, it was already 8:30

Work for the government
I haven’t worked an extra minute in the year plus I’ve been doing it!
Kip baby
I can’t believe the team isn’t going to light him up.
They need all the runs they can get if Yates is going to try and close
If it wasn't for Hamm's beer,
I wouldn’t have no beer at all….

But do we need

Yeah, we`re all real impressed with his 9.00 ERA after 4 starts.
4 runs in 5 innings today.

since
JVB has the highest career ERA in the history of baseball (that’s actually true, i read it somewhere…among pitchers with enough innings to qualify). I think: Anybody > JVB
