AL West and NL Central: Imbalanced and Unfair

Hey Pirates fans, I wrote and article that I posted on Red Reporter about the uneven division sizes in Major League Baseball, a dilemma which effects NL Central fans the most by putting us at a disadvantage at the start of every season (in comparison to every other team in Major League Baseball). In my mind its an outrage but I would love for you guys to check it out, drop a vote in, or even make a comment!

Thanks!

you cannot say that the odds are uniform. the odds of a team winning a division is not related to the number of teams in the division. games are not randomly decided.

Sure it is related,

the Bucs have to beat two more teams than the Mariners.

Sure, a team’s talent level has more of an effect, but he is talking about how the number of teams affect the odds, independent of everything else. All else equal, it is tougher to finish first out of six teams than first out of four or five.

Wild-Card

it’s harder to win the division, but the same for every NL team to win the wild-card.

good point

And not to mention its impossible to schedule with odd numbers of teams in each league. So there has to be expansion or something crazy like that to solve this problem

Not true

The Pirates should expect to win the wild card once every 5 years. Teams in the other divisions once every 4.

There's no reason

whatsoever you can’t have 15 teams in each league. Absolutely none. MLB just doesn’t want to, like it doesn’t want to settle the DH disparity once and for all. Fifteen-team leagues would work perfectly well if interleague matchups were spread through the season, rather than bunched into a couple weeks. But MLB wants its circus, and damned if logic should enter the discussion.
