Arms race escalates
Cubs get Rich Harden from A’s in six-player deal.

Cubs give up
Gallagher, Murton, Patterson and minor leaguer John Donaldson.
Good trade for the A’s IYAM. Harden can’t stay healthy.

And give up no significant parts
Sean Gallagher, Matt Murton, Eric Patterson, and minor league catcher John Donaldson.

OOOOHHH
looks like Snell’s got his velocity back…a BUNCH of pitches 91-94 on the Astros broadcast gun.
by Thunder on Jul 8, 2008 7:15 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
But the offense
isn’t behind the 8 ball in the 1st inning again.

Our old friend
Julian Tavarez, has a new home, again. Atlanta.

Sanchez
hit .258 in May…and is near or below the Mendoza line for the rest of the season. Would someone please remind me why he is batting second?
by Thunder on Jul 8, 2008 7:24 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Please send Sanchez down...
if nothing else, for my sanity.

Hell
Connie Mack Russell had him hitting 3rd the other day. 3RD!!!!!

I see Mr. Hernandez took a bullet for the Astros last night
and got sent back to Round Rock today.

Gameday
has most of the fastballs at 93 and 94, with a couple coming in lower

Wherever he is
I like his philosophy better than Andrews “Work slow, throw balls, any speed will do”.
by Hitman Easler on Jul 8, 2008 7:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
he's not on a "hard pitch count"
but it’s almost time to “watch him closely” already.

49 pitches after 2
He may not make it 5

To answer my own question..
Miller was forced to retire after the 2005 season due to surgery for an aneurysm.

At least Sanchez plays solid defense
and has shown that he is a good hitter. Neither of the same cannot be said of Bautista.

I'd rather have
Bautista at the plate right now than Freddy.
The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

Just did some back of the envelope calculations...
Freddy outside of May this season…has a BA of .206 and an OPS of .499. That’s on-base plus slugging. We’ve got 4 guys with slugging averages higher than that.

Pathetic
Yet Russell puts him at the top of the order.

We need a run and 6 outs
before it starts raining.
by Thunder on Jul 8, 2008 8:02 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
And I am not sure that's gonna happen.
Maybe 30 minutes…at most…before rain starts…probably less. And probably close to a 2 hour delay once they stop it.

Ugh
The only hitter in the park worse than Suckchez and Snell walks him.

3 2/3 innings?
Glad Ian found his stuff.

Rain?
Long delay? or short one?

Looks like more than an hour...probably closer to two..
if they even restart.
by Thunder on Jul 8, 2008 8:24 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Astros broadcasters
say as of 1025PM EDT…expecting restart in 45-50 minutes.

Looks like game
may restart a little early. Astros broadcast back on the air.
