Meyer also says it’s raining, and there’s a good chance the game won’t start on time.

Surprised to see Doumit starting

It’s a day game after a night game, and he’s caught 21 innings the past 2 nights. Guess JR doesn’t have a choice—not many bats in the lineup.

If Andy LaRoche wasn't injured

I think Chavez would be starting today

I bought a cheap seat for this game last night

but I think I’m gonna skip it because the weather is iffy and probably gonna get worst…

Welp...

by phillybucco on Aug 10, 2008 1:32 PM EDT   0 recs

and of course, by worst, I meant "worse"

My weekend of horrible typing continues…

Yeah

they just issued a tornado warning for nearby in NJ, and we could have hail and stuff, too.

TV guys

said there are no common open dates….

Meyer says it’s not stopping soon and the forecast is the same for tomorrow at NY….

Well

that’s 1 less L to deal with

I mean, I guess they could fly out tomorrow

the game is at 10:10 PM LA time…

The field is sopping wet

They’re showing the ground crew squeegee-ing the tarp and the water is ankle deep…

Welp...

by phillybucco on Aug 10, 2008 2:38 PM EDT   0 recs

they're moving off the tarps

looks like a 3:15 first pitch

Just a hunch

I don’t know how much more of King of Queens I can stand…

I'm about 20 minutes from the park

but I have to pack for my vacation this evening, so I’m just gonna eat the ticket…. it was a cheap one anyway, and a crappy seat.

Yeah, if the game woulda started on time, I would have

had time to get everything done… but since it could get further delayed, I’m just gonna hang and watch it on TV and stay dry.

by phillybucco on Aug 10, 2008 3:20 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah, 'cause

you couldn’t have packed instead of watching King of Queens…

I love the way he pitches

We gotta score early and often in this one in case the nasty weather returns

Gorzo's Indy start for today

Pitched 5 scoreless outing then the botton fell off in the 6th giving up 3 runs

10 K’s however and in line for the win.

by Bad Andy on Aug 10, 2008 3:35 PM EDT   0 recs

One walk.

It was a great outing until the 6th. Just couldn’t get that last out.

by Slick1 on Aug 10, 2008 3:38 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

FYI...

Gorzo pitched today and was cruzing through 5. Put up zeros and had 10 Ks with 1 BB until running into trouble in the 6th. He’s out of the game now after giving up 3 ER. The 10 Ks is promising although I wonder where is velocity is at.

And they can try Luigi at 2B—they say he can handle it.

sounds good to me

I like Minky’s hustle and bat…..I could do without the retard kid called Freddy

Jesus 500...

He’s had a rough season probably due to the injury but outside of is Ofer yesterday he’s been raking lately. And he’s been nothing but soldi for us season we put him in the every day limeup. Let me guess, you were one of the ones calling for us to dump Bay last year after his ONE, INJURY PLAGUED, bad season. Look at Cliff Lee as another example of what a little patience will get you. Give Freddy a break already.

by Slick1 on Aug 10, 2008 3:53 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

nope Bay was my favorite buc

I have always disliked Freddy even before this year.

I will continue to hate him…we should have never paid him either

by .500 Please on Aug 10, 2008 4:00 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

OK.

I don’t dispute that the contacts handed out this season look bad right now; but why in the world do you HATE Freddy? I don’t get it; he’s been a solid performer for this team since we got him. Please explain.

by Slick1 on Aug 10, 2008 4:14 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

And during those

5000 games, he’s seen alot of highs.. and ALOT of lows

passable starting pitching thing we’ve got goin’ on lately…

WHY

were we sending out YOSLAN HERRERA instead of this guy?

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 10, 2008 3:54 PM EDT   0 recs

I have no clue

but i saw Herrera in Harrisburg on Friday.. struck out the side 1 inning, then gave up 5 in 3

by Battlin Bob on Aug 10, 2008 3:55 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Because...

he’s been in the league since 2003 and has never been really good. Be careful judging pitchers on one or two appearances. It wasn’t long ago a poster on this board, I don’t remember who, was ready to annoint Herrera the second coming of Nolan Ryan after his shut out.

by Slick1 on Aug 10, 2008 3:58 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah but

someone who’s been in the league for a while and has not been completely awful is a lot better than most of our staff of late

25 pitches

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. -- HST

by cocktailsfor2 on Aug 10, 2008 3:54 PM EDT   0 recs

Look at Moyer's pitch count

43 pitches thru 2. Of course Moyer is good for 125 pitches or so. He’s like Wakefiled—no effort.

by WstCstBucco on Aug 10, 2008 3:57 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Sure hope Rivas is DFA's

When Big LaRoche comes back

by Bad Andy on Aug 10, 2008 3:58 PM EDT   0 recs

I actually...

think Gomez will go before Rivas because of his age and lack of versatility. Rivas actually hasn’t been too bad in his role since JR realized he is not an every day, or even semi regular, SS.
