The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.

-Jack missing a 6th straight game
-Black Hole should be back up tomorrow… a corresponding move will have to be made to make room on the roster.

Mossome?

I still like Triple-M (for the “Mighty Mighty Mosstone”) but I admit to being a little bit of a WWE geek.

Whatever happened

to batting the pitcher eighth? Is JR admitting that was silly?

by bucdaddy on Aug 13, 2008 5:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

batting 8th

He said he thought it helped to set the table for Bay, Nady, but with those guys gone (weaker No. 2 hitter?), it didn’t make sense anymore. I didn’t really understand the logic (and I never liked the idea in the first place), but anyway Russell somehow linked the change to the trade.

Incidentally, 8 shutout innings for Ohlendorf today in a 1-0 win. Four hits, 1 BB, few Ks.

Dominos are starting to fall

Only Sheppers, Grossman and Alvarez to go for an excellent first draft for Coonington

by WstCstBucco on Aug 13, 2008 6:52 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Considering how much both the Fresno State guys were used,

I`d like to see us get #10 Gagnon and #20 Miller for more quality young arms.

Scheppers is going to be an injury risk-no matter if he is deemed healthy enough to sign now-and the guys here have not exactly given dominant reviews of Wilson.

Let`s be hopeful.

From DK:
What to watch: Fogg has been abysmal against his former mates, with an 11.30 ERA in three starts, including 22 hits and six home runs in 14 1/3 innings.

Yeah.

Just a hunch...

maybe Adam LaRoche is taking an extra night of rehab…so that whoever the roster move tomorrow involves…clears waivers?

Pirates have to punish Reds

Fogg is Fogg—one of the worst SP in all of ML not wearing black and gold.

If Pirates can’t knock him out of the game by the end of the 4th, I’m checking out after tomorrow’s signing deadline til ‘09.

Carl Crawford on DL

How about Duffy to the Rays? He’s already cleared waivers in the last 30 days. Or Morgan? Either can presumably play LF.

PBC could take the famous PTBNL. Or a bag of balls—unscuffed.

Rays would be saner making this move than going for G. Sheffield or B. Bonds (but just barely).

by WstCstBucco on Aug 13, 2008 7:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Bonds?

Hasn’t lifted a bat in live action for 11 months. By the time he’s thru with ‘spring” training, Crawford will be off the DL.

Bonds needs about 8 weeks of spring training

I know some think he could get off his deathbed and put up a .450 OBP but (a) he’s presumably off the juice now, and (b) he’s 44 years old!!

I cannot believe it

Only 2 hits and 0 BB after 4 innings.

It’s not Josh Fogg, it’s the ghost of Cy Young pitching for the Reds tonite.

(I knew there’d be some pain in starting 3 rookies (but only 2 tonite) and still missing Mario, but jeez—it’s Josh Fogg!!!)

Another fun night

for the Hickory pitching staff. Hickory HAD a 5-0 lead after 2 innings. De Los Santos started…and is still in. His line 4 IP, 3 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 5 BB, 5 K, 3 HBP and 1 WP. Adam LaRoche 1 for 2 with a single and an RBI, lined out his other at bat. Hickory down 7 to 5 in the 4th.

Yeah

Blogging is a bitch—those posts always come back to haunt you. :)

At least Fogg didn’t markedly lower his ERA (-0.02) against the PBC, and his WHIP actually went up.

So it was on the whole an average Josh Fogg performance, which was all I was asking the team to do—not to lay down for the guy.

by WstCstBucco on Aug 13, 2008 8:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That was no worse

than your average Zach Duke start.

by bucdaddy on Aug 13, 2008 8:38 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Will Duke even be a Pirate

next season? Keep him around and you have to give him a big raise because he`s arbitration eligible.

Zach Duke is just a bad pitcher. The Jim Colborn blame game doesn`t wash anymore. I don`t care that Duke is only 25, either.
