Line-up

CF Nate
2 Freddy
C Doumit
1 Black Hole
3 Luigi
LF Mossome/Triple-M/Rolling Stone
RF Pearce
SS Jack
P Duke

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

Pearce

glad to see he is back in the lineup.

I cringe every time I see Doumit in the lineup simply due to the defensive gaffes he will inevitably make. His bat obviously makes up for it but his poor defense seems to grate on me more and more throughout the season.

I made most of my life decisions at a Foghat concert... I stand by them.

Doumit

has got to play to get better.

by ElliottBayBucco on Aug 16, 2008 5:52 PM EDT up reply actions

He is no worse than the latter options

its not like the Pirates are chalked up with gold glove talent anywhere at any position

10 Quality Starts in a row/Aug. 08 - BUT now we can't hit:(

Doumit

I’d rather have him than Chavez or Paulino god-forbid. Doumit’s gaffes just grate me more than anyone else’s do.

I understand that he is young and has not started consistently yet and therefore is prone to make mistakes but that doesn’t mean I’m happy about it.

I made most of my life decisions at a Foghat concert... I stand by them.

And we're off

Is there a rcord for most runs allowed by a team in the first inning?

Can’t wait for Gorzo, Mr. Wonderful and McCutchen to come up on 9/1

Opponents are hitting .308 against Duke

.320 against Snell. I will give you one guess where those two rank in the NL in opponent avg.

of if JVB had enough innings to qualify for that stat

by northsidenotch on Aug 16, 2008 7:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Duke used to be good

have great command and loads of confidence…then Tracy and the Idiot squad told him he could be better if he changed his approach and his delivery ……and we see how that went

he'll be

a good option to ligten parker’s load a bit, especially coming off the injury.

by northsidenotch on Aug 16, 2008 7:33 PM EDT up reply actions

I am down here in TX so I have watched Limas "Bean" Sweed often

he will be good but he is a head case…maybe the NFL can humble him

Haha

Yeah, it is Rashad Mendenhall, but he should be alright. I loved him last year at Illinois, but reports from camp say he struggles a little in short yardage situations.

had no idea what he was doing there

by northsidenotch on Aug 16, 2008 7:29 PM EDT reply actions

that was pretty ugly…I feel cheated because I have defended the criticisms of his defense.

by poorboywilly on Aug 16, 2008 7:42 PM EDT up reply actions

House plays for the Astros chain

he is Round Rock..but he was down here in our town of Corpus Christi for a while….the boy smashes the ball…but there is no where for him to play in the field..his arm is shot so the put him at first but with berkman in Houston I doubt he will see time there

Can we score more than one run?

Time for little LaRoche and Pearce to prove they belong.

by Hitman Easler on Aug 16, 2008 7:54 PM EDT reply actions

Problem is that this crap is getting old.

Our pitchers seem to be great at getting a bunch of guys out in a row…AFTER they’ve already let the horse out of the barn with 3 or 4 runs.

it did not look like Reyes hit that as hard as he did

Anemia

thy name is PBC offense.

by Hitman Easler on Aug 16, 2008 8:26 PM EDT reply actions

But next batter

hit into DP…so Gorzo at the minimum through 6 innings. 77 pitches 51 strikes.

by Thunder on Aug 16, 2008 8:29 PM EDT up reply actions

lets hope

he can pitch to ML ballplayers now

by poorboywilly on Aug 16, 2008 8:30 PM EDT up reply actions

22 of last 24 innings

have been zeros. The other two: 1 run each.

by poorboywilly on Aug 16, 2008 8:27 PM EDT reply actions

actually make that 21 of 23

but it may go deeper than that…i’m just counting the reds 1-3 loss, mets 1-2 loss and today

by poorboywilly on Aug 16, 2008 8:29 PM EDT up reply actions

Dear Neal

Please put Duke out to pasture.

by Hitman Easler on Aug 16, 2008 8:31 PM EDT reply actions

ughh

just what we need with an anemic offense, a 6-0 deficit and 4 innings to cut it

by poorboywilly on Aug 16, 2008 8:31 PM EDT reply actions

Tabata

2 for 3 at Altoona with a dinger. Shelby Ford has gone deep as well.

by poorboywilly on Aug 16, 2008 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions

late last night was nice, though

good thing I didn’t pay for MLBTV for a month—gameday is MORE than enough

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 16, 2008 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions

Moskos

once again…can’t pitch without giving up a run. 1 ER in 1 IP so far of relief

by northsidenotch on Aug 16, 2008 8:38 PM EDT reply actions

The Bucs

are just paying Philly back for last weekend. We Will…lose 4 to the Mets….take that Phillies! :)

by Hitman Easler on Aug 16, 2008 8:38 PM EDT reply actions

Gorzo

gives up a single in the 7th…there goes the no-no

by northsidenotch on Aug 16, 2008 8:44 PM EDT reply actions

Gorzo's no hitter

gone to the first batter in the 7th.

by Thunder on Aug 16, 2008 8:44 PM EDT reply actions

Holy smokes

before I left, I liked Moss a lot. Now it looks like he’s gone ice cold. What’s up with him?

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 16, 2008 8:46 PM EDT reply actions

Gorzo picked off

the base runner…so he’s still at the minimum through 7.

by Thunder on Aug 16, 2008 8:46 PM EDT reply actions

Gorzo

87 pitches through 7. 58 strikes.

by Thunder on Aug 16, 2008 8:47 PM EDT reply actions

Did Pedro

really just say it was a 3-2 count and not 2-2?

by northsidenotch on Aug 16, 2008 8:49 PM EDT reply actions

Article on Pirates.com tonight

basically saying that the kids (Luigi, Moss and Pearce) will be getting the lions share of the playing time the rest of the year. Quoted JR several times in the article. That would explain Pearce over Minky tonight even though Minky has great numbers against Pedro. Then again…ADD LaRoche was 1 for 17 against Pedro before tonight.

Bring up the yankee pitchers

send down Duke or at least bring up gorzo but Duke needs to go away

by Cence on Aug 16, 2008 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions

I am sick of Duke

The Tracy/Colborn excuse has run it’s course.

Outside of his first two months, he has been terrible.

by Hitman Easler on Aug 16, 2008 9:22 PM EDT up reply actions

More likely that Duke

would go to long relief…than to Indy. Send Romulo down. Then they will have to figure out who to ditch when Capps comes back…which will probably be next weekend.

by Thunder on Aug 16, 2008 9:30 PM EDT up reply actions

Duke

needs to be sent down. Long relief? His career Opp. BA is .310. He needs to go somewhere and figure out how to get hitters out.

by Hitman Easler on Aug 16, 2008 9:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Point taken

But unlike Ollie…who I could clearly see had the stuff to succeed minus the mental makeup…it would not hurt my feelings if we lost Duke .

by Hitman Easler on Aug 16, 2008 9:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Jesse Chavez

wraps it up for Gorzo, 1-0. Cutch with 2 hits.

by Hitman Easler on Aug 16, 2008 9:44 PM EDT reply actions

We've got the

tying run to the plate and our best hitter up. Mets bullpen couldn’t possibly blow another one, could they?

by Thunder on Aug 16, 2008 9:44 PM EDT reply actions

Zach Duke stinks again-

6IP, 6ER.

He`s a Texas boy. Maybe he can find a job with the Rangers and Jim Colborn for 2009.
