I heard down here in TX
on the radio the rangers were saying that they were looking to trade in the off season for Zach Duke. The only thing they mentioned on offering was Marlon Byrd and maybe if others were involved German Duran.
Being from Texas I have seen these guys play a lot and Duran a lot in AA. all I can say is I hope they don’t try and Get Byrd, though he might be swinging a bat now he is just a horrible player that makes some of the dumbest moves ever. He is renowned for making plays that you would yell at a little league player for making. Poor defensive decisions and many many bad ones on the base pads. In TX we wonder why anyone would pay him money to play.
Duran however is a good strong bat and one of the best defensive 2B I have seen play in the Texas League. Though right now the rangers have been forcing him to Play 3B because of Kinsler hold that spot down.
Just wanted to know if this was just Stupid Ranger talk or if you all have heard some validity to it

the Rangers might be able to get Duke for free, if they're patient.
if he keeps pitching BP to NL hitters, the Pirates might DFA or non-tender Duke….

I can't imagine any team
wanting Zach Duke. His opponents BA would be over .400 in the AL.

Not heard anything
I’ve never heard anything about that. Don’t know how Byrd would fit in up here with the abundance of outfielders.
Not sure why they would want Duke in the first place.

If we trade him
we should trade him to an NL Central team. That way we get to hit off him.

If the return is significant...
Duke will be a Ranger for 2008. I don’t believe there is any player on the PBC’s 25 man roster that is ‘untouchable’. That being said, there hasn’t been any word in regards to what you have heard in this part of the internet.

I know Duke isn't much
but have you seen the Ranger’s Staff
The Rangers Radio guys like to talk a lot. You would think they are in the World series the way they talk down here……..and Astros fans OMG have to be the dumbest people on earth, so unrealistic….they have signs here counting the magic number to get the Wild Card.. Its sad is what it is

Duke
I too am from the Dallas area and I’v never actually heard any of this talk, although I certainly believe you. I guess Duke sort of gets groundballs, so if i squint alot I can almost see why the Rangers would want to take a flier on him, but not if they have to give something up, least of all an actual prospect such as Duran.
Where are you from exactly? I live in the DFW area, Coppell actually, although I’m away for school now.

but I am at school right now in Corpus Christi.
The Rangers are known for trading prospects away for nothing….like Danks for McCarthey(as he even thrown a pitch for Texas in the last two years they have had him?)

Not relevant today
but there was something in the PG or on Dejan’s that he was going to get a lot less playing time in September (rest reasons, I guess).
Does that mean a lot more of Morgan?
The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.

Well
He has had only 44 AB…that’s pretty limited to look at stats, but in those ABs he has .372 SLG and .672 OPS, only marginally worse than Bautista’s .404/.729. Give him time. Better he play like this now then next year when the team might actually be a little more decent.

by shayborg on Aug 19, 2008 8:36 PM EDT 0 recs
Snell has faced Pujols more than any other batter, 33 PA
Career: .444/.545/.963
2008: .273/.385/.273
So he’s been relatively good against him this year (in 13 PA). Also note that these stats don’t include tonight.
