I hate you, Dave Littlefield.

-P- Also, USS Mariner makes a very convincing argument that Major League Baseball should do away with the system of draft pick compensation for free agents. As a fan or a team that has reaped exactly no benefit from this system over the past decade (partly because of its own negligence, but also partly because the system doesn't help the teams it's supposed to help), I think I agree.

“I will wait and see if the ownership gets out of baseball management. They reneged on a trade this spring that would have netted them a probable Cy Young winner, a super catcher and high upside OFer and wound up giving the same player away for midlevel prospects four months later. No wonder they never win.”

What trade were they talking about??
