Duke?

I made most of my life decisions at a Foghat concert... I stand by them.

Per PBC blog

other demotion is Beam. Davis to bullpen. Both Beam and Sanchez to return Sept. 2nd. Doumit not starting but available to PH. Nate feeling better, but in street clothes and with team.

That line-up...

certainly not welcoming Gorzo back in a “we want to win” way

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

Also via Dejan

Davis in relief the rest of the year… Duke will start Wednesday.

6 man?

So we aren’t doing the 6-man rotation to protect Maholm?

Freddy 7th

Its about time. No walks since June 15 and ranked 156 out of 157 in MLB among those qualified for the batting title. Why in the world did that jackass Russell wait until the games were meaningless to do it? Dejan talked about it on the nightly sports call last night. I wonder if he planted the seed in Russells head?

Lineup....

…might be a winner in AAA.

In case nobody else has noticed yet . . .

Nyjer Morgan is not a major league player.

That's It!

Knew there was something about him. Couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Thought I had seen him in some movie or something. . .

nice start by gorzo

Juan Samuel was the Phils leadoff man when Russell was a rookie, I think that imprinted on Russell like a duckling who sees a cocker spaniel and thinks its his mother.

Gorzo’s topping out at 90, and throwing a lot of junk. Not a good sign.

by Arnold Rothstein on Aug 23, 2008 7:29 PM EDT reply actions

So what's Morgan brought so far...

a stolen base, a caught stealing….a pickoff…that’s one of three (.333) in the speed department…where you need to hit about .750 to be successful. And nothing spectacular on defense. Please remind me again why we need him…other than the fact we need a “CF” for a few days. Michaels has been playing enough where we could have put him in CF, where he’s played a little before.

Jim Tracy and Dave Littlefield

were the only two humans on the planet who thought that.

by WTM on Aug 23, 2008 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Sorry...

but I would rather see them DFA Morgan and bring up Cutch, whether he is ready or not.

by Thunder on Aug 23, 2008 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Gorzo Only throwing 89 MPH

Is that right or is the gun slow thats not good at all

by Cence on Aug 23, 2008 8:05 PM EDT reply actions

Interesting...

it took Chris Duffy 2 weeks to find his way to Indianapolis. It takes Steve Pearce less than 24 hours to get from Milwaukee to Durham.

guess that

brushing back Braun didn’t exactly bother him.

by Thunder on Aug 23, 2008 8:14 PM EDT reply actions

I'm

not even listening to them anymore. I got the Pirates game on the computer and the Steelers game on tv and listening to that

by northsidenotch on Aug 23, 2008 8:23 PM EDT up reply actions

eh

defense is looking good. shutting Peterson down.

by northsidenotch on Aug 23, 2008 8:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Looks like the offense

got lost somewhere between Latrobe…Heinz Field and the Metrodome.

by Thunder on Aug 23, 2008 8:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Only problem with that...

is down here around NOLA…that means I have to listen to Gumbel and Dierdorf.

by Thunder on Aug 23, 2008 8:28 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m tired of this sorry group of pitchers…curse you Littleyield!

by buccoboy on Aug 23, 2008 8:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Maybe while he was at AAA

they should have taught Gorzo how to bunt. Geesh!

by Brakeman8 on Aug 23, 2008 8:29 PM EDT reply actions

is this

the lowest Freddy has batted in the order all year?

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 23, 2008 8:30 PM EDT reply actions

I am an idiot

before I left town i thought he looked really good over there (only a few games). Now i check the box every night and see him making errors every game

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 23, 2008 8:42 PM EDT reply actions

In his defense I’m not sure if he realized Gorzo was pitching tonight when he made that prediction

And it

doesn’t look like we will score many tomorrow either, with CC pitching.

by Thunder on Aug 23, 2008 8:52 PM EDT reply actions

nah

we are gonna light him up like a Christmas tree

I have no idea why, but I feel it.

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 23, 2008 8:53 PM EDT up reply actions

what?

nobody agrees with me? huh?

we just scored a run! yipee….

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 23, 2008 8:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Nyjer

is actually hitting during this short little stint

by Raise the Jolly Roger on Aug 23, 2008 8:54 PM EDT reply actions

but not

running any smarter than any other time here.

by Thunder on Aug 23, 2008 9:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Looks like

another tidy 6-7 pitch inning…
